Position Summary:
Reporting to the Manager of Wellness Programs and Facilities Operations, the incumbent will oversee the day-to-day operations at the McGill Sports Complex.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan and manage the daytoday operations of the unit.
- Supervise 6 fulltime SEU equipment room staff and approximately 40 casual employees.
- Serve as a mentor and role model to casual staff in relation to performance expectations, professional development, and leadership.
- Manage all staff related discipline issues in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the SEU and AMUSE collective agreements. In collaboration with the HR office, participate in disciplinary meetings.
- Develop staff schedules and coordinate work assignments.
- Supervise and train casual staff (SEU casuals, facilities representatives and front desk attendants)
- Create and develop policies and procedures and ensure that staff are adhering to them. Assess and distribute work.
- Monitor work schedules and implement system to account for time required to complete tasks.
- Ensure staff are present for shifts, implementing policy and procedures. Develop time management log and recording system.
- Make decisions regarding complex issues pertaining to daytoday operations and resolve on site administrative problems.
- Develop budgets and produce reports relating to areas of responsibility.
- Prepare and approve payroll for fulltime and casual staff.
- Monitor and maintain adequate equipment room inventory and forecast supplies.
- Oversee all Currie Pool maintenance and water testing procedures.
- Oversee the unit's facility bookings and make adjustments as required.
- Serve as the lead contact for all Currie Sports Complex facility rental requests.
- Manage logistics and operations for all Currie Sports Complex rental requests.
- Produce rental contracts and follow up with invoicing.
- Assist with special events and projects.
- Represent area at disciplinary meetings.
- Serve as the liaison with McGill Security Services. Hire and train casual front desk staff as required.
- Provide proper enforcement of departmental rules and policies.
- Identify safety/risk management concerns
- Liaise with Assistant Facility Manager regarding building maintenance, cleaning and repair requests.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Familiar with McGill facilities and campus an asset.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing a team in a unionized environment.
- Ability to supervise, train and coach employees.
- Experience working with rental contracts.
- Ability to problem solve and make decisions.
- Experience working with and understanding budgets.
- Knowledge and a strong background in the trades industry.
- Experience overseeing pool maintenance.
- A valid driver's licence.
- Bilingual English and French.
- Experience using Workday, Spectrum or other scheduling software.
- Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree 3 Years Related Experience with Bachelor's Degree / DEC III 5 Years Related Experience with DEC III
Annual Salary:
(MPEX Grade 04) $62, $78, $93,830.00
