The Government Translation Service (GTS), Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery, seeks two experienced bilingual terminologists to provide terminology services to Ontario government and external clients.

What can I expect to do in this role?: Working within the Terminology Unit of GTS, you will:

  • provide corporate terminology services and create official government names
- maintain the terminology databases, website and library
- manage thematic projects
- develop, review and distribute terminology and linguistic usage standards for French-language communication within the Ontario Public Service
- ensure that terminology processes are followed and translation vendors are compliant


How do I qualify?:


Mandatory:


  • You must possess oral and written Frenchlanguage skills at the superior level. Your proficiency level will be confirmed before hire.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:


  • You have demonstrated experience in terminology, including analyzing concepts, recommending and creating French equivalents for official terminology, drafting research results for clients and preparing terminology records for corporate databases.
  • You have demonstrated knowledge of terminology theory, principles, methods and practices.
  • You have proven ability to carry out complex research using terminology software and tools.

  • You have excellent writing and revision skills.
  • You have excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You have excellent research and documentation skills.
  • You have strong organization, planning and coordination skills to analyze requests, identify their nature and prioritize them according to urgency.
  • You are familiar with the French Language Services Act and can ensure the quality of Frenchlanguage terminology provided to Ontario's Frenchspeaking population.
