Canlan is currently looking for a Financial Analyst

Job Summary:

Full-time permanent position. Reporting to the Controller.

The financial analyst will be accountable for providing the Controller with information collected from multiple sources in a clear, concise, and straightforward manner.

The financial analyst will collect and report on information for all business units, with emphasis on marketing and operations.

Accountabilities:

Data mining expert in financial and CRM platforms such as Daysmart, Sage 300, Workday Adaptive Planning, and Salesforce
Accuracy of data being collected for use in reports and analysis
Create modeling and tools to report on business performance and activities
Development of methods to better automate the extraction of data or the population of reports with data extracted

Leadership Competencies and Responsibilities

Collect business performance data from various sources and systems,
Validate key performance data requirements with management and cross functional team members to ensure that data collection will provide the insights needed to increase efficiency and productivity in key business areas
With supervision, use the data to prepare reports to find the correct information needed to inform business decision makers.
Filter and refine collected data, and create models that will provide management with information on business performance and activities
Where required, merge data from different sources and systems to report information in a meaningful way
Assist accounting group with projects or accounting work, when needed
Assist the Controller in identifying trends and areas that can be optimized
Create scenario modeling for business purposes that enable users to easily perform sensitivity analysis, toggles for trailing12month or periodic analysis, and similar tools.
Assist the Controller with developing scorecard reporting and developing dashboards and similar tools
Collect external data and prepare the data to enable reporting on factors such as competitive analysis, effects of CPI, interest rate movements, etc.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Postsecondary degree in Business or related field
Enrolled in, or completed, the CPA program an asset

years of business experience in FP&A

Abilities, Skills, and Experience Requirements:

Advanced or Expert level knowledge and hands on experience with Microsoft Excel
Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI is an asset
High attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for this position
Ability to translate data from multiple sources into clear, concise information for business use
Ability to learn different software platforms quickly
Strong written and oral communication skills
Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced environment
Effective time management and workload efficiency skills
