    Job Summary

    The Central Communications Operator is responsible for handling all internal and external inquiries related to locating physicians/staff/patients via face to face interaction at the Information desk or via phone. The Central Communications department is accountable for initiating the response to all Emergency Codes/situations immediately.

    Primary Responsibilities

    The Central Communications department is responsible and accountable for the effective dispatching and coordination of Environmental Services and Transport Services staff in accordance with current standards of practice. The Central Communications department houses keys/badges for staff sign out, and can assist with booking of meeting rooms.

    •Demonstrated knowledge of Environmental Services, Transport and Linen departments is an asset

    Qualifications


    •Minimum Grade 12 education

    •Graduate from a Community College course in 911 and Emergency Services Communications preferred

    •Minimum of 1 year current related experience in a Call Centre environment.

    •Previous experience in a hospital setting is an asset.

    •Previous experience on a console and paging system is an asset.

    •Regular attendance is a requirement of the position as is the ability to work shift work, weekends and overnights to accommodate specific components of the job.

    As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the Hospital's Occupational Health and Safety department. Successful candidates will be required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination (two doses) from the Ontario Ministry of Health website or other authorized source directly to the Occupational Health and Safety department. In the event that you are unable to be vaccinated as a result of a ground protected under the Human Rights Code, you may submit a written explanation of the ground and any supporting documentation to determine if you are exempt from this requirement to the recruitment team.
