Duration: 12 Months, This vacancy is for a period of 12 months due to a special project.
Reporting to the Market Manager, Hamilton Farmers' Market, the Coordinator plans, coordinates and implements cultural, special event, demonstration kitchen and performance space activities.
The Market Presentation Coordinator works closely with community groups and individuals to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality events and programmes promoting the goals of the Hamilton Farmers' Market to be a community gathering place and to nourish and inspire the Hamilton community.
Researches, develops, coordinates, organizes, publicizes, implements and evaluates programmes presented by the Hamilton Farmers' Market including curriculum-relevant educational programmes, workshops, seminars, lectures, group tours and major and minor special events utilizing the demonstration kitchen.
Conducts research on a variety of food trends and culinary subjects.Recruits, directs and co-ordinates students and volunteers for programmes and events and associated administration.
Represents the Hamilton Farmers' Market, where needed, at off site functions.
Records bookings for programmes and other clerical/reception duties.
Operates audio visual equipment.
Works in accordance with the provisions of applicable Health and Safety legislation and all City of Hamilton corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.
Previous programming experience related to duties listed above normally acquired through a combination of education and related work experience in Museum Studies, Culinary Studies, Leisure Studies or related field.
~ Previous event planning experience such as coordinating, planning and implementing programmes.~ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office XP (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and be able to input data at an acceptable speed. Knowledge of Desktop Publishing would be considered an asset.
~ Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing at all organizational levels and with the general public with tact and professionalism.
