The Community Manager is responsible for leading a Christenson Community Site.

By ensuring and maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and government regulations and in accordance with residents' needs, and organization's own policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:


Site Management & Leadership

  • Responsible for overall operations of facility, acting as contact for all staff, residents, prospects, community organizations, Alberta Health Services and the public.
  • Participates in the development of the facility annual operating and capital budgets and ensures conformance to approved budgets on an ongoing basis. Continually explore means of revenue enhancement and expense reduction.
  • Develops an annual operating plan in collaboration with the Leadership Group and ensures goals are met.
  • Provides leadership for staff and residents including proactively solving problems and resolving issues.
  • Attends Residents' Council Meetings (when requested) to discuss concerns, complaints, suggestions, or new initiatives the facility is developing.
  • Ensures buildings, grounds, and property are up to company standards through the oversight of preventative maintenance systems and programs, and frequent inspections that meet company standards of excellence.
  • Meets with residents/family to resolve problems/concerns/complaints and reviews suggestions on an as needed basis and communicates on a regular basis with the residents and their families through the monthly newsletter, or other appropriate meetings.
  • Inform public, residents, their families, prospective residents, and employees of the Urban Village and Aging in Place Campus concepts, community locations, services available, policies and procedures, and strategic corporate alliances and government programs (e.g. Alberta Health Services).
  • Oversee admin, housekeeping, recreation, and maintenance staff.
  • Hire, train and supervise staff where applicable. Train and manage relief personnel for vacation coverage, etc. Train new site staff members for other Christenson Communities locations, as required.
  • Assist with the creation, maintenance and implementation of site policies & procedures.

Budgetary & Financial Considerations

  • Monitor site budget and ensure expenditures allocate with existing budget category.
  • Consideration and monitoring of sites longterm capital plans.
  • Prioritize expenditures based on sites existing financial and budgetary plans.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education in business management/administration and/or professional training in property management
  • Minimum 5 years' progressive experience in a supervisory/management capacity.
  • Demonstrated success in facility management and operations, revenue generation, staff retention, hospitality and fiscal management.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements and manage a budget.
  • Work history that supports ability to hire, direct and manage staff.
  • Must be able to communicate in both written and spoken English.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs including MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, vendors and the general public.
  • Must be passionate about making a difference in senior's lives.
  • Awareness of accident and injury prevention, hazard identification and control; adherence to safe work practices and procedures is essential in this position.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission, vision and values of Christenson Communities Ltd. is essential.

Bona-fide Requirements

  • Required to be oncall.
  • A current and clear Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector
  • Able to travel <25% in Alberta for training and to support other sites when needed.
  • Class 5 Driver's license and own vehicle.
