Position Responsibilities
- Participate in all aspects of personal resident care to ensure the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of each resident/family are met and so that the resident is as independent as possible
- Deliver effective and efficient care under the direction of the supervisor that promotes resident/family choice and acknowledges the resident strengths, limitations, as well as their need for safety and the safety of another resident/family and staff
- Participate in multidisciplinary committee work as required: Care conferences, as directed; Unit meetings, general staff meetings, and HCA meetings
- Participate in continuing education to ensure skills and abilities are maintained and enhanced
- Participate in continuous quality improvement of the care unit and associated care services by ongoing collection and documentation of data
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Health Care Aide certificate (or equivalent) from an accredited institution
- CPR/BCLS for healthcare providers required
- Active enrollment in the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory
- Clear police information check, with the vulnerable sector, dated within the last 6 months
- Demonstrated skills in communication, teamwork, organization, and customer service, with a high attention to detail and thoroughness and a demonstrated knowledge and commitment to personcentered care
- Awareness of accident and injury prevention, hazard identification and control; adherence to safe work practices and procedures, and the ability to problem solve through critical thinking and selfeducation
Other Bona-Fide Occupational Requirements
- Physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the position (may be required to lift, move, push, or pull objects weighing up to 75 pounds)
- Ability to work on his/her feet for a complete shift while constantly bending, stretching, walking, lifting, or moving things
