The Biologics Manufacturing Center (BMC) inc. is a 58,000-square-foot biomanufacturing facility completed in June 2021.

The BMC supports the growth of the country's biologics production capacity, ensuring that vaccines and other related products can be manufactured safely, right here at home.

The BMC is designed to create biopharmaceuticals such as viral vector, protein subunit and virus-like particle vaccines, as well as other biologics.


We are looking for a
Quality Control, Microbiology Intern to support the Quality Control, Microbiology department, whose mandate is microbiological analyses supporting the consistent quality of graded production areas, water, raw materials and manufacturing products.

Under the supervision of the Quality Control, Microbiology Supervisor, the
Quality Control, Microbiology Intern will be responsible for:

  • Participating in sector operations by managing inventory;
  • Reading microbiological results from environmental control of production areas;
  • Identifying microorganisms by colonial morphology and biochemical tests;
  • Performing microbial load analyses;
  • Contributing to preparations for environmental sampling of production areas;
  • Compiling and entering results obtained;
  • Working with and supporting other members of the microbiology team.

You're the person we're looking for if:

  • You are a 2nd or 3rd year university student in microbiology or a related discipline.
  • You have experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • You have a basic knowledge of microbiology and aseptic techniques, laboratory safety and laboratory equipment.
  • You have knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, Word and Excel.
  • You have the ability to work effectively with minimum supervision and to learn and acquire new technical skills.
  • You have good communication skills, a collaborative spirit and a strong sense of organization and priority management.
  • You must be able to handle/lift up to 10 kilos.
  • You are legally entitled to work in Canada.

Length of internship:
September 5 to December 22, weeks, 37.5 hours per week)
