The Town of New Tecumseth is looking for individuals who can skate and would like to monitor public skating to educate and enforce rules to ensure safety.

Under the guidance and direction of the Coordinator, Fitness and Aquatics, Public Skate

Monitors are responsible for providing the residents a safe an enjoyable skating experience

while ensuring that rules and order are maintained. Monitors work to prevent accidents and

provide any required first aid treatment should an accident occur.


Responsibilities:

Maintain order, safety, and discipline during public skates and in all areas of the arena.

Educate the public with skating rules and expectations.

Always maintain good customer service.

Remain on duty until the skate ends and all patrons are off the ice.

Report ready to work 15 minutes before the designated public skating time.

Keep physically fit, alert, and ready to meet any emergency.

Attend all designated corporate, customer service and position specific training required.


Qualifications:

Standard First Aid with CPR level C is required.

Must be at least 14 years old.

At a minimum attending high school.

Ability to skate independently, start and stop as needed.

Some experience with Customer Service in a public setting is preferred.

Ability to engage participants and provide a safe and fun experience.


Ability to provide your own pair of ice skates in good condition, along with a CSA approved helmet intended for ice activities IE: Skating or Hockey.


Wage:
Minimum wage, plus 4% vacation pay and optional enrolment in OMERS pension plan


Hours:
Up to 10 hours per week


Location:
Tottenham Community and Fitness Centre and/or New Tecumseth Recreation Centre


Dates:
September 18, June 30, 2024
