As Manager, Human Resources, you will work as a key partner in defining and accomplishing the administrative workforce planning goals and objectives of the Temerty Faculty of Medicine (TFOM) and the Dalla Lana School of Public Health (DLSPH).

Working in close collaboration with the Director, Human Resources, you will leverage emerging technologies to help redefine fundamental HR processes and re-imagine our future by adjusting to the changing expectations of a digitized workforce.

You will lead and mentor a versatile team of experienced HR generalists that provide strategic client-focused solutions in a highly complex, decentralized environment.

Your mastery of applicable policies, collective agreements and employment laws will enable you to provide expert consultation on key matters relating to equity, diversity and inclusion, labour relations, employee relations, ability management, organizational reviews, job evaluation and compensation.

Your record of building collaborative teams and your proven ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders, and provide support in the execution of their accountabilities will help the TFOM and the DLSPH advance their priorities and the impact of their research and innovation.


Essential Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant field of study; completion of (or working towards) Certificate in Human Resource Management (CHRP), and/or Master's degree in Human Resources or a related field, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum ten years' related experience in Human Resources, including strong labour relations skills in a postsecondary or other broader public service, unionized environment
  • Proven successful change leader with the ability to motivate, drive and achieve results
  • Experience leading and supporting organizational design, leadership development and performance management
  • Comprehensive experience with job evaluation, compensation and ability management
  • Experience building respectful relationships with union representatives and partnering with Labour Relations and Legal in regard to Faculty union matters
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, service orientation and proven ability to resolve complex problems
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with internal clients, gain credibility, and be viewed as a trusted advisor
  • Proven successful experience facilitating solutions in conflict situations and providing coaching support to managers
  • Advanced consulting skills, with the ability to work across the organization to influence decisions for a positive outcome
  • Experience providing strategic advice in relation to change management processes by evaluating risk and anticipating operational and HR impacts/problems
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and persevere in difficult and/or stressful situations
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a consultative team environment as well as the ability to make independent decisions and direct others in critical situations
  • Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of equity in the workplace and an ability to work effectively with all constituents in a highly diverse community
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing and frequently changing priorities
