Your opportunity:


Project CASCADES (Creating a Sustainable Canadian Health System in a Climate Crisis) is a nationally coordinated effort by the University of Toronto, the University of British Columbia, Dalhousie University, and the Canadian Coalition for Green Healthcare to mobilize the transition to a high quality, low-carbon, climate resilient health system.

Directed by Professor Fiona Miller, CASCADES' objectives are three-fold: (1) To build capacity across Canada's healthcare community to promote and deliver sustainable healthcare; (2) To coordinate a national approach to the cultivation, selection, support, and scaling-up of sustainable healthcare innovations in service delivery and system design; and (3) To facilitate pan-Canadian policy development.


As Training and Education lead, you will play an important role in supporting the design, implementation and evaluation of the CASCADES continuing professional development program in the interests of pan-Canadian capacity building.

Your strong understanding of the role of education in capacity-development, the principles of effective instruction and models of continuing professional development will allow you to support and promote pedagogical approaches to curriculum and the use of innovative instructional technologies to support teaching and learning efforts, and community development.

Your strong background working in instructional design, conducting detailed analysis and program evaluation will contribute to the success of CASCADES.

Your background and experience supporting health and/or sustainability projects will contribute to the success of CASCADES.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Developing components of instructional programs and advising instructors on strategies for the development and delivery of curriculum
  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework; Conducting detailed analysis and evaluation to inform program planning activities
  • Building and sustaining partnerships to codesign and codeliver learning opportunities
  • Providing feedback to instructors on effectiveness of course materials and on their teaching performance assessing teaching dossiers and course materials
  • Developing content for and facilitating educational workshops
  • Researching and recommending educational technologies and best practices related to teaching and learning
  • Collaborating on cost estimates and handling expenses for events
  • Directing the activities of a single ongoing staffappointed employee

Essential Qualifications:


  • Master's Degree in Health Policy, Sustainability or Adult Education or a related field, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant work experience with professional development and/or other training activities in a health care, environmental sustainability or an allied professional context
  • Experience contributing to the design and evaluation of training programs, including the development of evaluation frameworks and performance indicators
  • Experience in the design, development and implementation of high quality professional education programs (both online and in classroom) and complementary resources based on learner needs
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating professional learning or training events, workshops, etc.
  • Experience building and maintaining positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing data, interpreting findings and making recommendations for improvement based on insights and best practices
  • Proficiency with determining cost estimates and handling expenses for events
  • Experience directing the activities of staff
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technologies and professional development best practices, including universal design for learning
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, partnership and presentation skills with a strong commitment to client service
  • Ability to deal effectively with multiple priorities and projects with conflicting deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and high quality
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication
