Job Purpose
The Quality Lead is primarily responsible for initiating front end QC planning for construction & maintenance-based activities and the implementation of such plans.
Integration of the QA/QC process will be coordinated at a variety of projects and maintenance activities at Petrochemical facilities in the Edmonton area.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Display a commitment to Waiward's incidentfree vision, values, and culture;
- Develop a thorough knowledge of the project scope, schedule, inspection, testing, and quality documentation requirements;
- Develop complete understanding of Contracts, Specifications Codes and jurisdictional requirements;
- Responsible to develop ITP's and Quality Field Packages and ensure all ITP stages are adhered to;
- Maintain effective communication with project management and client representative on quality related issues;
- Mentor, supervise, train and assign tasks to Quality Inspection personnel;
- Have a thorough knowledge of the Quality Management System, Technical Safety BC Quality Manual, Procedures and Work instructions;
- Manages implementation and effectiveness of the QMS in compliance with regulatory requirements, keeping current with industry Codes and Standards and ensures QA/QC tools are functional for their scope to support the needs of our people;
- Manges the effectiveness of the Quality System through reviews, Audit findings and implements corrective and preventative Actions;
- Documents and reports Non-Conformances when they occur, ensures rework is tracked, reported and NCR's are closed in a timely manner;
- Ensures welder Qualifications and continuity logs are maintained and current;
- Liaise with third party NDE Companies. Review and approve all thirdparty testing as per project requirements;
- Responsible to develop, implement and monitor QC turnover Systems, to ensure progressive compilation of documents;
- Coordinate and schedule system walks with project management team, quality inspectors and client representatives;
- Provide input on continuous improvement of quality program.
Qualifications
- Certification as a CSA 178.2 Level II or Level II Welding Inspector;
- ASME B31.3, CSA W47.1 & CSA W59 Code endorsements;
- Must have a strong understanding of relevant codes and standards (IE
- CSA standards W47.1, W59, S16, W178.1, W178.2, G40.20/21, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1);
- 5+ years' experience as a Quality Inspector or Lead for multidisciplinary construction & maintenance activities;
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills that are complimented by effective oral and written communication skills, as well as listening skills;
- Ability to be clear and concise when presenting information to negotiate or influence others. Tactful and mature demeanor with welldeveloped interpersonal skills including the ability to work with diverse personalities;
- Ability to make timely and objective decision, while displaying a strong attention to detail;
- Proficient in MS Office software, specifically MS Office Suite, and Bluebeam.
Working Conditions
The incumbent is required to work on a construction site with moderate noise, extreme temperatures and numerous hazards including equipment.
The job may require the incumbent to walk stairs; be outside in inclement weather (slippery surfaces and cold); carrying objects, driving and being exposed to normal office routines.
Physical Requirements
The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal for extended periods of time; and extensive reading.
