We are currently looking for

2 Wiring Inspectors to join our Lakeside Meter and Inspection Services team in permanent positions.


Accountabilities:


  • You will be required to learn to install, commission and maintain all polyphase and singlephase meters with or without instrument transformers for metering installations, including all associated documentation and perform meter installation work as required. You will be required to multitask between wiring inspections and complex meter work and will work as a team player in the diverse environment of regional operations being proactive in assistance with operational activities as required.


You may be temporarily assigned to other locations to assist other areas when required and will be expected to travel throughout the province.


  • You must locate your principal residence within 30 minutes of headquarters and be available to assist with after hour emergency service restoration.
  • You will be responsible for personal safety and that of coworkers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the Environmental Management System processes and initiatives.

Skills, Capabilities and Experience:

A Grade XII education or equivalent and a valid certificate of qualification in the Electrical Construction Trade are required.

You must be approved by the Nova Scotia Provincial Fire Marshal and NSPI's Chief Electrical Inspector; and in addition, must comply with NSP standard qualifications for the Wiring Inspector position.

You must be eligible for membership in the International Association of Electrical Inspectors and have a minimum of five years' experience as a Journeyperson Electrician in the domestic and commercial electrical construction field with foreman/lead hand experience, and to be well versed with the current edition of the Canadian Electrical Code and NSP utility standards.


You will be able to work with minimum supervision, deal effectively with contractors, customers and the general public, demonstrate excellent customer service skills, and be able to work in a safe and efficient manner.

You must hold a valid Nova Scotia Driver's License with a minimum of 2 years driving experience and provide a driver's abstract satisfactory to NSPI.


Conditions and Physical Capabilities:


  • Must be able to lift 28 lbs. from the floor to waist on a mínimal basis.
  • Able to carry 20 lbs. with both hands occasionally, with the overall ability to carry 28 lbs. occasionally.
  • Perform static reaching from waist level to overhead level on an occasional basis.
  • Perform frequent standing and walking with neck extension movements.
  • Perform occasional sitting with neck flexion and rotation movements.
  • Perform mínimal squatting, kneeling, crouching, climbing, bending, stooping, and forward flexional movements.
  • Ability to perform fine finger manipulation and possess a simple to firm grasp while performing turning and pinching motions.

Salary:
$44.20 per hour, as per the NSPI/IBEW Collective Agreement.
