Description
When it comes to construction, you're a leader, not a follower. You can assess an active construction site with confidence. You're comfortable around equipment and you work well with contractors. You're straight to the point, but you listen too. You are forthright as you represent the project owner. You strive to make sure the job is done right the first time.

This position is in our Squamish office, located in the heart of Sea to Sky country.

Our Squamish office has been in operation for over 20 years, providing engineering and surveying services to the Lions Bay-Squamish-Whistler-Pemberton corridor.

Our recent projects include working with various developers on large developments on complex hill-side terrain, as well as working with municipalities on infrastructure rehabilitation.

This role is full time and combines both field and office work.

You will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to successfully deliver construction support services on land development and municipal projects of various size and complexity.

You inspect civil works throughout the construction progress on multiple projects, keep up-to-date construction records, evaluate constructed works, track schedule variances, prepare progress payment certificates, and assist Project Managers with contract management.

In the office, you contribute to the design side of the project delivery process. You prepare construction details, quantity take-offs, and construction cost estimates while working closely with multiple project teams.

You will utilize your background in construction inspection and survey work to observe and inspect works and keep accurate, up to date as-constructed information as work progresses.

Special considerations will be given to applicants with survey work experience.

YOUR ROLE:

  • Completing and reporting onsite inspections
  • Preparing and updating asconstructed field record drawings
  • Notifying the Project Supervisor or Contract Administrator of potential problems and liaising with municipal inspectors and outside agencies
  • Coordinating with Contractors and assisting with construction administration
  • Abiding by Binnie's established procedures and complying with Binnie's Safety Program
  • Performing survey related tasks

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • 25 years of previous experience in inspection or surveying in a civil engineering environment or
  • Completion of a Degree or Diploma in Construction Inspection, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • Comfort and experience working in a construction setting
  • Registration as an AScT, and/or CPWI preferred
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Familiarity with the tendering process and construction contracts
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients
