PURPOSE OF THE POSITION


Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, the Carpenter Apprentice & Journeyperson will be responsible for effectively delivering the civil portion of the project to ensure Aecon Construction Solutions Inc.

achieves their general and specific project requirements.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reading blueprints
  • Undertaking the layout (selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work, measuring and marking materials to avoid costly mistakes or omissions)
  • Prepare, erect and remove structural formwork for concrete foundations, walls, columns, beams and shafts
  • Cutting and shaping materials and joining them with nails, screws, bolts or glue
  • Checking completed units to be sure they are level, square, plumb and the right size, shape and location
  • General carpentry such as framing, hoarding, doors and frames and other activities as assigned
  • Journeyperson will mentor apprentices

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Certified Journeyperson Ticket or indentured in the apprenticeship program
  • Doka formwork experience
  • The ability to stand, crouch and kneel for long periods of time
  • Manual dexterity
  • Good sense of balance when working on scaffolds
  • The ability to solve math problems quickly and accurately
  • The ability to get along well with others on a work tea
  • Must have a strong understanding of safety procedures and policies on an industrial job site

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Repetitive movement
  • Able to perform in a fastpaced environment
  • Continuously changing work tasks
  • Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments
14/7 shift, 10 hour days

Potentially 2 weeks days and then 2 week night shift


Pay:
$26.12-$40.18 per hour
