Position Description Summary
The Loss Prevention Supervisor provides leadership direction, communication, and support within a Distribution Center facility or facilities as assigned.

The person in this role is responsible for supporting all functions of the Loss Prevention Department, including Physical Security, Inventory Control, Investigations, and Supervision of Contract Guard Services.


Principal Accountabilities

  • Assign Security officers and Loss Prevention associates their daily areas of responsibility
  • Support internal investigation with Director if Security.
  • Coordinate emergency response procedures and support fire safety rules and regulations.
  • Conducts ongoing loss prevention, safety, and shrinkage awareness programs for all associates, and management staff.
  • Ensures policies and procedures are consistently followed.
  • Reports unsafe conditions and acts to appropriate personnel.
  • Investigations/Auditing
  • Monitors all ID badges for entry/exit to the facility and warehouse for all associates.
  • Monitors all visitors, vendors and contractors entry/exit to the facility and warehouse.
  • Monitors/controls all sample merchandise, RTV (Return to Vendor), damage and charity product that is disposed of in accordance with company guidelines. Monitors all fire and safety regulations within the facility.
  • Monitors FA/BA (Fire Alarms/Burglar Alarms) to ensure proper responses and/or dispatching.
  • Ensures trailers are properly handled at the gatehouse and in the trailer yards. Responds to emergency situations, such as medical, fire, weather, hazardous material and security related incidents and takes appropriate actions, as stated by Marmaxx policy. Assists in evacuations as necessary. Ensures 0% physical security breakdowns.
  • Take an active role in identifying all forms of loss within the Distribution Center
  • Responsible for heightening Loss Prevention awareness
  • Conduct physical security checks. Make recommendations for ways to prevent loss
  • Conduct safety inspections and communicate hazards to Management
  • Assist in conducting investigations and audits in a Distribution environment
  • Review CCTV, Access Systems and all other physical security systems for evidence of Security/Company violations
  • Discover and document facts by conducting basic investigations into associate dishonesty, power equipment accidents and personal injury accidents
  • Ensuring policy and procedures are consistently followed
  • Communicate effectively with peers and business leaders to deliver results.
  • Conduct emergency response drills, daily physical hazard/safety inspections, investigations, interviews, and key control audit.
  • Monitor Closed Circuit Televisions and alarm systems.
  • Authorize, monitor, and document access to secured areas.
  • Gather information and complete reports. Maintain confidentiality of reports/documents, release information to authorized individuals.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Law and Security Diploma and /or equivalent experience
  • A provincial security license.
  • Strong knowledge of LP equipment and functions (CCTV, radios, fire alarm panel, access control).
  • Must be a person of integrity and poses the highest standards, and be able to maintain privileged information strictly confidential.
  • A strong desire for a career in Retail Loss Prevention.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, delegation and motivation skills
  • 3 years of security and/or loss prevention experience and customer service skills in handling conflict resolution.
  • Effective fire and burglary alarm system skills.
  • Good verbal and communication skills.
  • Investigation and Interviewing skills, including identifying alert signals and obtaining evidence while investigating cases.
