We are looking for a
Director of Credit Risk and Underwriting to support our business growth in Toronto.

The
Director of Credit Risk and Underwriting, you will lead and innovate our fintech's approach to credit risk management and underwriting from a fintech perspective, diverging from traditional banking practices.

This role is instrumental in building, leading, and owning the credit risk and underwriting department, ensuring the implementation of best practices and efficient operational execution aligned with our corporate vision.

You will drive the development and continuous improvement of our credit underwriting and adjudication processes, including customer scoring, policy formulation, and risk prediction, to support business in a prudent manner while optimizing for an exceptional user experience.


The Director, Credit Risk and Underwriting will not only lead the development of policies and procedures but also own the department's success, making critical decisions that align with our corporate vision.

_ How you will contribute:
_


  • Develop and lead the credit underwriting and adjudication process, including the creation of customer scorecards, define onboarding thresholds, lead adjudication policies, and carve out risk predictions.
  • Manage the entire credit lifecycle from onboarding to collections and recovery, ensuring industryleading customer service levels.
  • Work closely with BPOs to predict and manage early missed payments and collections, define appropriate interventions/reminders and keep overall impairments within acceptable limits.
  • Collaborate with the portfolio team to define and track provisioning levels against targets.
  • Develop comprehensive dashboards showcasing risk by vintage, segments, products, and onboarding channels.
  • Ensure compliance with the IFRS 9 framework for asset classification and provisioning.
  • Oversee the credit team's training, coaching, and development; document procedural guidelines within the Credit Operations team.
  • Collaborate with Customer Care, Collections, Fraud, and other functional areas to drive process improvements and support SLA targets.
  • Act as the business Subject Matter Expert for all credit and underwriting operational initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with credit bureaus and regularly assess portfolio to continuously improve underwriting assessments.
  • Lead thirdparty integrations with IT support to enhance risk monitoring and decisionmaking processes.
  • Understand and incorporate repayment schedules and creditworthiness in product offerings as well as ensure payment hierarchy works to optimize revenues.
