  • Responsible for achieving and maintaining high standards in the overall delivery of Gender Based Violence (GBV) programs and services, including Phoenix Place second stage Housing Program, Transitional Housing Support Program (THSP), Justice Services programs, and Newcomer and Immigrant GBV Counselling program. The Supervisor will ensure staff are performing and delivering quality services to clients, through evidencebased and trauma informed program development.
  • Responsible for supervising Phoenix Place, National Emergency Survivor Support Fund, THSP programs and services, Justice Services and GBV Counselling program for women in conflict with the law and Newcomer and Immigrant Women across Hamilton and surrounding areas through organization, planning and resourcing;
  • Manages the performance of GBV staff by maintaining positive and focused communication systems that support teamwork and promote collaborative working relationships, while ensuring compliance with legislation and YWCA policies and procedures;
  • Under the direction of the Manager, Housing and GBV Support Services, participates in the recruitment & selection, orientation, training and evaluation of staff to effectively fulfill staffing needs;
  • Works collaboratively with Housing and GBV Services Management team to support program development and implementation, process and policy development as well as measure and track outcomes and client satisfaction;
  • Coaching and consultation on cases presenting as high risk, supporting staff in safety planning & risk assessment;
  • Coaching and guidance to staff across programs to strengthen the practice [CK1] of traumainformed care;
  • Provides oversight on deliverables and reporting across programs and supports development of service delivery models and approaches to meet funder expectations;
  • Tracks and communicates trends and service gaps to Manager and provide recommendations to address through responsive and innovation programming;
  • Maintains accurate records/statistics and evaluation information related to the activities undertaken/outcomes achieved;
  • Implements appropriate program guidelines and procedures/templates for program to ensure consistency and excellence;
  • Provides program reports to Manager as required;
  • Attends industry related networking events and representing the YWCA on community committees;
  • Ensures that all policies and procedures for the program are current, and best practices are incorporated at all times and provides recommendations to strengthen policies or processes;
  • Fosters a safe and healthy work environment; ensures employees comply with health, safety standards that meet or exceed legislated requirements;
  • Nurtures and forms meaningful internal and external working relationships and partnerships;
  • Understands and incorporates emerging trends, leading practices, industry professional standards;
  • Supports YWCA Hamilton mission, vision and values;
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a diploma or bachelor's degree in social services, human services or health related discipline or equivalent experience;
  • Professional designation from an Ontario professional association or licensing body preferred;
  • Minimum 2 years of demonstrated supervisory experience;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the genderbased violence or social services sector;
  • Knowledge and experience in the operations of a congregate setting, including general household maintenance, scheduling, and problem solving;
