Description

The Assistant Controller of North American Operations provides support to and coordination of company financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting management functions.

This hands-on role acts as a proactive business partner focused on compliant and efficient accounting practices in support of the business.


Responsibilities:


  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the local Accounting/Finance department. Manage and develop department staff
  • Drive the site to meet or exceed all financial metrics. Support daytoday operations with recommendations and decision making.
  • Work closely with the Financial Controller to ensure that all financial transactions and reporting are complete, accurate and timely.
  • Contribute to the site's annual budgeting process, including the identification of cost drivers.
  • Assist in implementing short
- and long-range department goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.

  • Contribute to monthend and periodend closing, management reporting, forecast and budgeting analysis and other reporting.
  • Tracks and analyzes company and cost centre spending including but not limited to purchasing/procurement, and administrative spend.
  • Working Capital optimization; inventory (SKU's, slow movers, forecasting), receivables (past dues, terms in general), Payables (payment terms and PTP optimization)
  • Works with internal and external auditors
  • Maintains and demonstrates professional competency according to company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or accounting preferred
  • CPA designation or equivalent required
  • Minimum 5 years' experience and supervisory experience is an asset
  • Experience working in automotive preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills, including a demonstrated ability to link and interpret operational metrics to financial performance, communicate/present findings, and make recommendations.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks and work independently to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
