At Future Fields, we're changing the world - one fruit fly at a time.
We've developed a novel insect-based expression platform that allows us to make the world's most sustainable recombinant proteins.

We're unleashing the next biorevolution.
At Future Fields, we are continually learning and evolving. We know we don't have all the answers, but we try to ask all the questions. We believe in "failing forward" and leveraging our mistakes to help us grow.

We never want our team to feel constrained by the status quo and we don't judge ideas based on where they come from.

We actively work to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and psychological safety through transparency, structure, and open communication.

We know it sounds cliche, but every employee really is a valued and equal member of the Future Fields team.

Perhaps most importantly - you'll be joining a team that is genuinely energized by this work and the meaningful potential of biotech to change the world.

About the role

Leveraging your experience in industrial biomanufacturing and GMP environments, the
Biomanufacturing Associate I will play a critical role in producing high quality recombinant proteins in our novel EntoEngine system.

With a focus on independently operating and maintaining bioprocessing equipment, this will be a highly hands-on position requiring flexibility, attention to detail, adherence to good documentation practices, and a willingness to troubleshoot and learn.

This position will evolve heavily over time as the company continues to grow and expand operations from bench to industrial-scale.

The Biomanufacturing Associate will report to the Biomanufacturing Lead and work closely and collaboratively with teams across Engineering, Process Development and Quality.

This role owns:

  • Handson manufacturing of recombinant protein products at bench, pilot and industrial scales in a quality and regulatory compliant environment
  • Upstream and downstream purification processes including buffer preparation, lysis, clarification, filtration, chromatography protein purification, concentration and buffer exchange, lyophilization and fill/finish
  • Operation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment following established procedures
  • Managing your workflows to ensure quality, prioritization, and timeliness.
  • Assist in identifying and mitigating risks in downstream manufacturing operations that could negatively impact delivery of safe and efficacious products
  • Drafting and reviewing controlled documents including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and batch production documents (BPDs)
  • Perform equipment calibration and preventative maintenance according to specific SOPs
  • Assuring quality success through adoption of quality control measures and systems including GMP and ISO Standards, as required
  • Generating, collecting and analyzing data
  • Presenting scientific findings to internal and external stakeholders, including presentations

This role assists by:

  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
  • Supporting general laboratory maintenance with tasks including cleaning, waste disposal and inventory management
  • Working closely with the site leadership, and Quality and Regulatory peers to align with requirements prescribed by different regulatory bodies to ensure products are compliant and efficacious
  • Identifying and implementing innovative process improvements, hypotheses, and methodologies to optimize biomanufacturing processes
  • Contributing to product characterization efforts and process development activities when needed: SDS-PAGE, western blot, protein concentration assays and sample preparation
  • Incorporating new technologies into the company and supporting technology integration

About you

Must haves:

  • A BSc or equivalent in biology, virology, biochemistry or related discipline
  • 3+ years of handson experience in a laboratory setting (academic or industrial)
  • Basic understanding of laboratory etiquette (cleaning, waste disposal, aseptic techniques and sharing common reagents)
  • Interest in learning and trying new things
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt in a frequently changing work environment
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work independently in a highly dynamic and fastpaced environment
