This is a full-time role with a fixed schedule (3 weekdays, 2 weekend days). Your main responsibility will be to ensure smooth operations in insect rearing, allowing our Senior Scientists and Engineers to focus on critical milestones. Tasks include fly rearing, food preparation, sample collection, dishwashing, and data entry, offering diverse learning opportunities within a biotech startup setting.
The Production Technician will collaborate closely with the Production team under the guidance of our Head of Engineering. Attendance in science and all-hands meetings will foster engagement in discussions on research, production strategy, and business objectives.
- Preparing specialized fly food using food-grade ingredients. Experience in cooking would be beneficial although not required.
- Ensuring proper sanitation by washing dishes, fly cages, and components promptly.
- Maintaining accurate records of insect rearing activities in a database for data integrity.
- Handling fly seeding operations promptly and efficiently for continuous breeding cycles.
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment consistently.
- Monitoring fly food inventory and cage conditions for optimal breeding.
- Adhering to efficient task management, prioritization, and teamwork for seamless operations.
- Background in restaurant or food prep industry.
- Experience with drosophila cultivation.
- Familiarity with recombinant proteins.
- Basic coding skills.
- Strong communication skills and knowledge of GMPs.
