The HR Generalist will be located at 1970 Merivale Rd, Ottawa, Ontario.


Overview

  • The HR Generalist will run the daily functions of the HR department including hiring and interviewing, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices, and will have a voice and be highly impactful within the growing organization.
  • The HR Generalist will be responsible for driving the recruitment and onboarding functions from creating job descriptions, tracking new hires, promoting the referral program, and ensuring all documentation is in place.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports the Corporate Manager, Human Resources with new employees' orientation and onboarding and maintains all HR files within the HRIS and helps with its implementation across the board.
  • Supports the Corporate Manager, Human Resources with HR policies, benefits administration, and liaising with payroll for any related inquiries, onboarding and offboarding requirements.
  • Shows her/his initiative by bringing forth new ideas and staying current on new programs for health & wellness, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
  • Facilitates proper employee documentation and records in DealerPilot HR, and compiling HR metrics reports as needed.
  • Assists the Corporate Manager, Human Resources, develops, implements, reinforces, and modifies HR policies, programs, and procedures as required by new business trends.
  • Assists the Corporate Manager, Human Resources with corporate internal audits on HR policies, programs, and procedures against relevant legislation and best practices and recommends improvements.
  • Provides advice and assistance to employees and branch managers on HR policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Resolves HR inquiries or escalates to the appropriate individual depending on severity.
  • Manages all recruitment related processes, HR workflows, administration of job postings and any related external advertising; weekly HR reporting; and preparation of new hire HR form packages and complete onboarding processes to ensure proper employee set up.
  • Facilitates onboarding and offboarding, including managing logistics with appropriate teams (e.g., IT Department) and assisting with exit interviews.
  • Manages the administration and delivery of the employee benefits programs.
  • Enrolls new team members on benefits plans (RRSP, group health) and distribution of team member material.
  • Ensures that the group health plan is updated timely, and for ensuring monthly accounting requirements are completed accurately.
  • Supports the Corporate Manager, Human Resources with implementing talent management programs (e.g., performance management, succession planning, recognition) and HR special projects.
  • Assists in the preparation of HR training material, e.g., health and safety, workplace accommodation, performance management.
  • Supports the Corporate Manager, Human Resources with the implementation of the organization's HR programs, including providing coaching and guidance to managers, running performance management sessions under the Corporate HR Manager guidance.
  • Assists with offer letters and job descriptions, and coordinates onboarding and offboarding processes.

Professional Qualifications:


  • A minimum of 25 years experience in Human Resources with exposure to multiple HR functions
  • Working knowledge of relevant ESA and ESC provisions in BC, ON, QC, NB, NS.
  • Engaging employees from onboarding to offboarding is going to be capitalized on, and amazing attention to detail highly considered.
  • Ability in managing employee files, drafting letters including promotion letters, FTE changes, and transfer and memos.
  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Experience with developing policies & procedures, and benefits administration
  • Proven experience with online recruitment and creative talent acquisition strategies combined with stellar written communication skills, to write job descriptions, debriefs and HR reports.
  • Ability of proofreading is a definite asset and highly preferred.
  • Ability to run with the operational and transactional side of the HR functions.
  • Experience working with hourly employees across multiple locations is an asset.
  • HR education background is highly preferred and is a definite asset.
