WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR?

Coordinator, Communications and Media Relations

:


Based at the organization's Montreal office at IGA Stadium and reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications in Toronto, the Coordinator, Communications is a crucial member of Tennis Canada's evolving communications and media relations team. This role is at the heart of Tennis Canada's initiatives, with a particular focus on supporting the organization's High-Performance team and their programs, as well as the National Bank Open presented by Rogers.

Responsibilities - Tennis Canada

:


  • Play an integral role in the daytoday operations of the communications department.
  • Support Tennis Canada's overarching media relations strategy with a particular focus on Montreal and the wider Quebec market.
  • Provide communications support for Tennis Canada's High-Performance department, including their athletes, coaches, and programs.
  • Execution of the communications and media relations plan for Tennis Canada's pro transition athletes, the National Tennis Centre, U15 Prospect Team and Club Support Program.
  • Working with key High-Performance staff, oversee the production of the High-Performance Newsletter each quarter.
  • Contribute heavily to the production and maintenance of key High-Performance documentation (e.g. Whole Player Development Pathway, HP Handbook etc.).
  • Contribute to the communications team's strategy for professional and national events and programs including, but not limited to: Challengers, Juniors, Masters, Wheelchair and University.
  • Provide communications and media relations support for Team Canada at the Billie Jean King Cup, Davis Cup, the Olympics and Paralympics, including travel and being onsite at ties/events when required.
  • Research, write and edit press releases, advisories and media pitches.
  • Review publicfacing materials when required.
  • Maintain the Tennis Canada Virtual Media Centre and photography storage platform yearround.
  • Produce regular media coverage reports using CISION and be prepared to present the results to internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Produce content for the digital channels of Tennis Canada and the National Bank Open.

Responsibilities - National Bank Open presented by Rogers

:


  • Assist in the management of the media accreditation process for the tournament.
  • Play a support role in the development and execution of the media relations and communications strategy.
  • Assist in the planning and logistics of public relations events prior to and during the tournament.
  • Play an important role in the management of a working Media Centre during the tournament.
  • Produce content for the National Bank Open's digital channels when required.
  • Research, write and edit press releases, advisories and media pitches.
  • Review publicfacing materials when required, including ticketholder and stakeholder communications.

WHO YOU ARE?

:


  • College diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Sports Management, Sports Journalism, or related field.
  • Minimum 23 years of experience in the field of communications, ideally at a sports organization or NSO.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications (oral and written) skills.
  • Ability to manage large volumes of work and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • A team player capable of working without supervision, whilst maintaining high standards.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of communications documents and tools (press releases, media advisories etc.)
  • A basic understanding of Canadian tennis events and the highperformance system is an asset.
  • Bilingualism is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

:


This role requires regular evening and weekend work, as well as the availability to travel for approximately 4 weeks per year.
