Position Summary

Responsible for the serving of meals to residents and the cleanliness of dining areas; maintains high standards of cleanliness throughout the facility by cleaning and sanitizing rooms and furnishings in assigned work areas following established policies and procedures.

Sorts, washes, dries, and folds linens and personal clothing and d-elivers laundry and personal clothing, in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Some Key Responsibilities

Receives assignment, assembles required materials and supplies, loads service cart and transports to work area
Use specified cleaning and disinfecting agents and following specific procedures, work patterns, and routines. Perform tasks as required to thoroughly clean and sanitize resident rooms and common areas
Ensures privacy of residents during performance of duties
Serves meals by following procedures and schedules and maintains cleanliness of dining room and other areas as specified
Receives laundry and sorts according to type, condition and weight. Follows specific instructions for treatment of soiled linens.
Washes and dries laundry following instructions for machine operation, designated washing and drying times, etc.
Folds laundry as required, sorts and delivers to appropriate apartments
Observes operation of machines and reports malfunctioning to supervisor. Assists in maintaining laundry facilities, equipment and supplies.
Cleans machines as required and cleans and tidies floors and laundry area
Participates in educational inservices, staff meetings and other training as required.
Maintains working knowledge of resident safety policies and procedures.
Any additional duties as required

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent
An acceptable Police Vulnerable Sector Check verified within the past six months (reimbursed by Finlandia Village)
2step TB test within the past six months (reimbursed by Finlandia Village)

Physical Demands

Extensive walking and standing
Some lifting, working in awkward positions required in putting away supplies
Exposure to heat from the kitchen area
Exposure to biochemical agents and wet floors
