Richmond Hill Office, Shelters (Markham and Aurora)


HOURS OF Work: 37.5 Hours of work - flexible to some evenings and weekends


ABOUT YELLOW BRICK HOUSE:


The Yellow Brick House/ Project Hostel is a not-for-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing services to women who have experienced violence and abuse.

The Yellow Brick House provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, crises, and short-term supportive counselling to abused women and their children in York Region.

We are a dedicated to providing services within a supportive environment that helps women and their children regain control of their lives.


PROFILE:


Reporting to the Director of Services, the Manager of Direct Services, Shelter provides effective and accountable managerial leadership to employees who support clients.

This position will oversee a trauma informed system of care for the survivors of domestic violence in terms of counseling, support, and programming.

The scope of this role also incorporates managing all areas of Quality Assurance to include conducting regular audits and inspections.

Develops, reviews, edits, and oversees the implementation of facility policies, procedures, and corrective action plans, by gathering and analyzing data related to the operation and management of the Agency.

Ensures ongoing facility compliance in accordance with established company policies and procedures and contractual requirements.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Strategic Management

  • Identifies program needs and makes recommendations as required to the Director of Services
  • Report regularly to the Director of Services, including discussion of work progress or new problems requiring Senior Leadership support.
  • Ensures consistent implementation of policies, procedures, and legislation, as well as develops new or revised polices, procedures, and legislation that align with the organization.
  • Works with Direct Services Director to identify any risk areas or accreditation gaps and identifies solutions to reduce risk and close gaps.
  • Create bimonthly manager reports to determine whether KPIs are being met and where there is room for improvement.
  • Support in house committees in successful continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in regular Management team meetings and contribute to the organizational strategic planning and other initiatives as required.
  • Provides program updates to the Board as required.

Shelter Management

  • Manages shelters operating 24 hours per day, 365 days per year with the capacity to serve up to 50 clients.
  • Monitors the delivery of services at the shelter in accordance with Agency's mandate, legislation, and policies and procedures.
  • Oversees interaction with clients regarding case management planning, complaints, violations and, supports provided in shelter.
  • Ensures confidentiality standards are followed when handling clients' files.
  • Audit and assist the shelter staff in reviewing the accuracy of all required documentation

Program Management

  • Involved with the planning and developing of new programs in the evaluation and improvement of existing programs, to ensure quality of services meet established objectives.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of client service protocols.
  • Ensure that clinical supervision is provide on an individual basis to all services staff.
  • Monitors the safety and security of all clients and staff.
  • Coordinate with counsellors and other partnering agencies to ensure a seamless system of care with case management informing program milestones are accomplished.
  • Prepares quarterly stats for each program and submits them to the Director of Services.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with other organizations for case coordination and response.
  • Ensures appropriate notification of child abuse as required by the Child and Family services.
  • Mediate participant grievances and facilitate case management/participant issues in collaboration with union staff as needed.
  • Implementing all aspects of our program work, including reviewing, and implementing program policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ensures that programs are evaluated to measure participant satisfaction.
  • Works with the Resource Manager, to ensure the development and implementation of marketing plans for individual program areas.
  • Ensure that all content for all programs are provided to the Resource Manager in accordance to the agreed schedule.
  • Prepare and manage annual budgets for the Shelter and Programs.

Organizational Management/People Leadership/Human Resources Management
