OVERVIEW
Casual, Part-time and Full-time positions available
A structured Security Officer role is critical to the success of Parq Vancouver.
The Security Officer's primary role is to provide a safe environment for guests and associates in and around the property by maintaining a visible presence and superior customer service.
The Resort Security Officer protects assets and persons in the 2 Marriott hotels (rooms, conference areas, lobbies, exterior) and other resort-specific areas of the property.

Responsibilities & Qualifications:
UTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Resort Security Officer duties:
Provide proactive superior customer service and maintain a friendly, professional demeanor at all times
Secure entrances including doors, windows, and gates
Patrol and provide visible security presence throughout the Resort areas (2 hotels, common property, parkade, exterior, conference level, park level, corporate offices)
Provide physical security and crowd control in and around the Resort areas
Monitor employee activity to ensure conduct is in compliance with Parq Vancouver and Marriott Policies and Procedures
Enforce restricted access to non-public and secure areas
Attend hotel guest rooms for noise complaints and other incidents
Check guest key cards prior to guests entering hotel elevators
Provide event security services for conferences and other events on conference and other areas
Provide security services for professional sports teams, VIP's and other special guests
Enforce restricted access to non-public and secure areas
Execute and assist with Emergency Procedures including fire evacuation and serious incidents
Report and provide Incident Reports for any suspicious or criminal activity, suspicious persons, or unattended children
Provide safety escorts for guests and associates as requested
Assist with medical emergencies
Write incident reports as required by policy
Maintain the highest level of discretion and confidentiality
Maintain working knowledge of company policies and procedures
Attend on-going job training as directed by management
Responsible for providing professional and superior customer service in accordance with established company standards (eg. Greeting guests in hotel lobbies, giving directions to guests, etc.)
Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Above average customer service skills
1-2 years demonstrated security experience is preferred, but not required. (Preference will be given to experience in a hotel/resort/hospitality)
Education in related field of study including law enforcement would be a definite asset
Training in use of force and tactical communication
Demonstrated experience intervening and de-escalating conflict situations with non-violent tactics
Ability to remain professional and perform duties under stressful conditions
Must have good verbal and written communication skills
Previous experience in report writing and incident investigation skills
CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES REQUIREMENTS
Valid BST (Basic Security Training) Certificate, or ability to obtain prior to hire
Must obtain Serving it Right Certification upon hire
Current certification in first aid Level 1 or 2 is an asset
Current certification in Advanced Security Training is an asset
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to lift, handle, and transport materials that are over 25lbs
Work activities involve the entire field of vision - Near and far vision - as well as depth perception and peripheral vision.
Will be required to stand and walk for extended periods of time while on shift (ability to run as required during an emergency or security situation)May be required to work outdoors during all hours and in all weather
