$87,959.59 to $119,004.15


Location:
Henlow Campus and/or remotely, as required


Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (35 hours/week)


Under the direction of the Dean of Skilled Trades and Technologies, the Program Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations and leadership of the Skilled Trades and Applied Technology programs within the College.

They ensure the vitality and integrity of these programs, enhancing the teaching and learning experience for students.

Key responsibilities include delivering, maintaining, and developing assigned programs and courses, implementing strategic and operational goals, leading change initiatives, promoting continuous program quality improvement, managing financial resources, and overseeing staff recruitment, development, and motivation.

The Program Manager also ensures students receive timely advice and support, cultivates ties to industry and community, builds relationships with other post-secondary institutions, and is accountable for the overall success of the assigned programs.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


Recruitment & Human Resources:


  • Manage and participate in the recruitment and selection processes of new academic faculty, substitute teachers and instructional assistants for programs within the portfolio. Identify and appoint hiring panels and coordinate and organize technical testing as required.
  • Coordinate and schedule sessional/coursebased programs, as required.
  • Prepare and submit appropriate employee contract forms to People Services regarding hiring and employee changes.
  • Coordinate onboarding and training of new academic hires on MITT academic policies and procedures, software training, and expectations surrounding instructing/teaching.
  • Set the scope, clarify and reinforce the expectations of faculty duties and their roles.
  • Assist faculty in building strong instructional skills and a deeper understanding of educational tools and technologies available to them.
  • Follow existing performance management processes and identify continuous improvement indicators and implementation of performance review schedule for academic staff.
  • Coach and support faculty on academic administration, classroom management and procedural matters.
  • Address employees' performance concerns by partnering with People Services and following the progressive discipline process.
  • Oversee the tracking of faculty staffing, such as term ends, term renewals and staff exits.
  • Ensure compliance with MITT policies among the staff in their program portfolio.

Program Delivery and Maintenance:


  • Regularly review new curriculum and classroom materials with faculty individually and in group settings, ensuring they align with the program level and outcomes while respecting academic freedom.
  • Identify administrative process efficiencies in delivering academic programs, and work with faculty and other departments to roll out the change management process.
  • Work with faculty and the Centre for Learning and Innovation to align program outcomes with professional or Apprenticeship Manitoba competencies.
  • Work closely with members of the Centre for Learning and Innovation department and industry experts in program reviews to ensure that courses and programs are relevant and responsive to the business community needs.
  • Make recommendations to improve academic interventions and program delivery strategies to promote student success and minimize potential academic issues.
  • Manage academic staff professional development conferences and workshops.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate coordination of the scheduling of classroom spaces, labs and shops.
  • Ensure coordination and adherence to blended/online timetabling and delivery standards.
  • Participate in space/facilities planning initiatives for the improved coordination and use of facilities, equipment, and resources.

Curriculum Quality Assurance/Improvement:


  • Lead program development and review, conducting research, competitive analysis, and forecasting to align programs with job market needs.
  • Oversee annual program reviews.
  • Approve course outlines to ensure compliance with stated program documentation.
  • Oversee the establishment of new academic programs and their continuous improvement. Collaborate with the Centre for Learning and Innovation, as well as internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure programs and course surveys are distributed promptly to support curriculum review and enhancements.
  • Establish and maintain Program Advisory Commit
