The Opportunity

Products at Synaptive include complex electrical systems and on your path as an electrical co-op, you will learn about all of them and how they work to create state-of-the-art medical devices.

We are looking for someone who is eager to dig in, learn and actively contribute to our multi-disciplinary team.

What You'll Do

Work under the direction of senior members of the electrical team to support development of our latest products
Aid in the design of printed circuit boards, cables and overall electrical hardware architecture
Support sustaining engineering activities by assessing, debugging and implementing solutions for issues found in production
Ensure functionality of engineering prototypes through bench and system level testing
Work with other members of the surgical team throughout the hardware design process including requirements generation, preliminary design, peer reviews, detailed design, test plan generation, and integration
Generate records (technical reports, presentations, BOMs, drawings) to document history of design and ensure product can be manufactured and maintained at the highest level of quality
Conduct, participate and record reviews for software and hardware design, product requirements and risk analysis
Work closely with manufacturing team to evaluate design for manufacturability, support test fixture development and facilitate design transfer
Collaborate with Quality Engineers to define and perform testing for design verification including EMC testing and other external laboratory testing related to electrical safety requirements
Assist with other tasks, as required

What You'll Need

Enrollment in Mechatronics, Electrical, or equivalent
Experience with Microsoft Office products
Willing to commute to the office up to 4 days a week

It'd Be Amazing If You Had

Experience with Altium and/or SolidWorks
Knowledgeable of the following standards: IEC 60601, ISO 1348
Experience in the design, development, and testing of medical devices
