We are actively looking to fill the following role within our Exploration Department located near Sudbury, Ontario.

Geologist

Scope of the role


This position carries out a variety of tasks which will assist the Area Geologist to explore, identify and define potentially economic mineral deposits.

A significant proportion of the Geologist's responsibilities will be related to geological duties associated with exploration drilling programs, including planning, logging and interpreting of drill holes and QA/QC of data.

In addition, the Geologist will be responsible for some target generation, some expenditure oversight, report/presentation preparation, and oversight of contractors, technicians and student geologists.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Committed to a safe and healthy work environment for self, colleagues and contractors including participation in safety programs and completing inspections;
  • Some oversight of RC and Core drill programs including supervision of contractors, technicians and student geologists;
  • Logging/Sampling and QA/QC of drill core and RC chips;
  • Use of 2D and 3D software to assist with drill planning and geological interpretation;
  • Reporting and presenting project status and results;
  • Geological mapping and data compilation and data QA/QC;

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge

  • Participation in Core drilling and/or RC drilling programs including logging of core and/or chips;
  • Geological mapping and interpretation;
  • 2 to 5 years of postgraduate Exploration/Mining Experience.
  • B.Sc. (Geology Major);
  • Must have a P.Geo designation or be P.Geo eligible.
  • Good communication skills (in English);
  • Ability to work in a team environment with mínimal supervision;
  • Sudbury geology related experience/knowledge is an asset;
  • Driver's License required;
  • First Aid training would be an asset.
  • Medium level Microsoft product knowledge;
  • Basic use of 3D geological software (Datamine/Leapfrog would be an asset).
