Position Summary

What will you be doing?


As an Inclusion Support Worker you will assist with supporting and integrating campers with exceptionalities years of age, into our Summer Camp programs.

You will provide campers the opportunity to build friendships and learn new skills. This position reports to the Inclusion Coordinator.

Major Job Responsibilities

  • Providing onetoone or twotoone support to campers with exceptionalities, ensuring that activities are safe, fun and appropriate
  • Leading activities within the KidsCAN program, as outlined in our daily activity plan
  • Utilizing the "All about me" camper profile provided by the Inclusion Coordinator to best meet the individual needs and adapt daily activities to ensure meaningful participation
  • Assisting with tasks of behaviour management, personal care including; changing, toileting and feeding as required
  • Maintaining open lines of communication and positive working relationships with the camp team to ensure all campers are having a fun and positive experience
  • Communicating with parents/guardians about the camper's day at camp. Sharing reminders, successes and challenges
  • Keeping all camp areas clean, tidy, and safe for all campers
  • Reporting all accidents, incidents, concerns or site damage to the Inclusion Coordinator, ensuring all appropriate forms are completed
  • Wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment as it relates to Occupational Health and Safety Act, and adhering to all established departmental safety standards and practices
  • Performing all other duties as assigned
  • Ability to work a minimum of 7 weeks at 40 hours per week to a maximum of 44 hours, in July and August. Hours vary based on program registrations. This position typically works a full camp day, Monday
  • Friday
  • Attendance at paid mandatory trainings, that occur during evenings and weekends throughout May and June, is a condition of employment
  • Attendance at all paid mandatory biweekly staff meetings that occur outside of camp hours
Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 16 years of age
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working in a children's camp environment
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working with persons with exceptionalities
  • Knowledge of program adaptations and behaviour modification techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) required
  • Behaviour Management Systems Training (BMS) or equivalent is required
  • Standard First Aid and CPR C certification required
  • Able to perform all activities including but not limited to: lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Able to swim and comfortable with supporting participants in the pool during camp swim
  • Under the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to submit a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening upon employment
