Work Description:


Major Responsibilities:


  • Assist the Vice President, Development and the development team, design, budget and plan new high rise and retail development projects
  • Manage project meetings with architects and other building consultants, and ensure information is consistently being disseminated among all stakeholders, including the project team. team.
  • Assist in the development, monitoring and updating project schedules and budgets for submission
  • Create and track master project schedules and track budgets monthly to ensure accuracy in billing and progress, and raising issues or discrepancies
  • Assign tasks to the consulting team and follow up to ensure that the tasks are being completed in a timely manner.
  • Review all work prior to dissemination to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist the VP of Commercial Development with due diligence and feasibility studies for acquiring new development properties
  • Preparing various reports, documents and presentations for various internal and external stakeholders
  • Attend internal and external land development meetings, and prepare various items for meetings, coordinating logistics for meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, and disseminating information
  • Work with internal team members in Leasing, Construction and Finance to execute on projects from inception to completion
  • Regularly attend site visits and meetings with the VP of Commercial Developments
  • Assist the Vice President, Development in organizing and streamlining processes to reach development outcomes more efficiently.
  • Proactively work with the Vice President, Development of to manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans
  • Request, review and analyze several consultant proposals and make recommendations on awarding contracts.
  • All other duties as required.

Statement of Qualifications:


Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:


  • Minimum of five years of experience in the Land Development industry, Construction, Real Estate Development or related fields.
  • Postsecondary education architecture, architectural design, urban architecture, engineering or building science, or related field.
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of the Land Development approval process.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Work, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work to strict deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with keen attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude, with the ability to nurture and grow stakeholder relationships.
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong understanding and ability to navigate the municipal approvals process such as Official Plan Amendments, Zoning Amendments, Committee of Adjustment, Draft Plan of Condominium and Part Lot Control.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with municipal, regional and conservation authority staff.
  • Knowledge of construction management and construction practices.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to read drawings and challenge/question proposals.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Innovative and creative problem solver who has experience challenge the status quo to create a better product.
  • Valid drivers license with the ability to travel throughout the City.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, photoshop and Microsoft Project would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in the new construction of a retail development and/or concrete highrise structures would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Building Code would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of commercial, office and retail leases and contracts would be considered an asset.

Physical/Sensory Effort/Work Environment:


  • Working primarily in an office environment, there will also be work in a construction environment related to site inspections and monitoring, including working outdoors.
  • Provide service to multiple people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines.
  • Willingness to be mobile as the role requires work to be performed primarily in the office but also onsite.
  • Overtime may be required on an occasional basis in order to meet the changing demands of the project(s).
