Job Description - Lead Field Collector
Position Summary
The Lead Field Collector is responsible for coordinating all in-field collection activities within a designated geographical region.
This role supports the Director of Operations for the region, overseeing day-to-day collections performed by the Deveron collection staff and assisting with special projects as assigned.
The Lead Collector also provides training and support to the collection team, both remotely and in the field. They serve as a point of contact for clarification, support, and troubleshooting for all in-field collection activities. The Lead Collector reports to the Director of Operations.Primary Responsibilities
Training and Support:
- Train and support the data collection team in operating equipment and the collection process.
- Provide initial onboarding and recurring training to collection staff.
- Clarify procedures and troubleshoot issues related to infield collection activities.
- Ensure effective data flow from collectors to other departments.
- Provide software support to collectors.
- Manage logistics and potentially schedule jobs for the collection team.
- Communicate job progress to the Director of Operations
- Dispatch collectors to support and assist the Director of Operations as needed.
Equipment Management:
- Understand and track all equipment assets for the collection team (e.g., soil sampling, drones, installations, tissue testing, weather stations).
- Ensure equipment is maintained and in proper working order.
- Coordinate equipment movement between locations to optimize efficiency.
- Collaborate with collection staff to ensure maintenance tasks are completed.
Hiring and Training:
- Participate in the hiring process of new field collection employees, including conducting interviews with HR and the Director of Operations
- Support, coach, and train collection staff during onboarding and with daytoday issues.
- Assist in health and safety training, ensuring compliance with protocols and procedures.
- Communicate with HR to develop and communicate policies to collectors.
In-Field Collections:
- Perform infield collections of soil samples, imagery, tissues, and weather station installations.
- Ensure accuracy and efficiency in data collection while maintaining a safe working environment.
Equipment Maintenance and Storage:
- Oversee and document offseason maintenance and storage of equipment.
- Ensure equipment is properly stored and maintained for optimal performance in the next season.

Salary:
$20.00-$22.00 per hour

Education:
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
Experience:
- agriculture: 1 year (preferred)
- Supervising: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:
- Driver's License with a clean driving record (preferred)
Willingness to travel:
- 50% (preferred)
