Digital Marketing Specialist
Permanent, Full-Time


About the Job:


Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for supporting the activation of the marketing strategy in our social media and website channels from ideation through to delivery.

As a key contributor to the marketing team, the Digital Marketing Specialist must have a passion and enthusiasm for marketing and be flexible to adapt to last minute changes in plans and overall direction.

Multi-tasking effectively across projects is essential.


Your Accountabilities:


  • Develop annual content calendars aligned to the overall Marketing strategy, promoting Sheridan Nurseries retail and wholesale businesses in our website and social channels
  • Ongoing maintenance of websites to ensure optimum user experience
  • Develop follower and engagement growth strategies across all social channels
  • Working with digital designer translate the content strategy into tactical creative assets that drive engagement
  • Copywrite for social execution and website updates
  • Establish a leadership position against core competitive set with regards to fan/follower engagement in Facebook and Instagram
  • Work with Marketing, HR, Operations and Category teams to reply to comments, compliments, issues and complaints in all digital channels
  • Plan, develop, implement and maintain high converting campaigns across all digital marketing and social media platforms (SEO / SEM, paid search, display, retargeting and social media)
  • Monthly analytics monitoring, measurement, presentation and strategic recommendations on digital channel performance
  • Contribute to budget management, ensuring efficient spend and effective implementation
  • Support on the execution of other tasks as required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • University degree at the Bachelor level, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of digital marketing experience with proven, handson skills in SEO/SEM, social media, Google Analytics, and content writing, preferably in a retail setting
  • Thorough understanding of digital strategy, web, mobile and social media channels
  • Previous experience managing social media accounts for a business, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn and TikTok
  • Experience with WordPress and Shopify
  • A skilled implementer, with a focus on making strategy come alive through exceptional execution
  • Proven project management skills managing multiple projects/initiatives with the ability to adapt and prioritize multiple tasks and situations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Existing product knowledge or ability to learn
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions
  • This role will require the flexibility to monitor and respond to social media on rotating weekends, holidays and evenings as seasonal peaks require
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
