Description

AbCellera is an energetic, and rapidly growing tech company with an amazing team that searches, decodes, and analyzes natural immune systems to find antibodies that its partners can develop into drugs to prevent and treat disease.

Working at the interface of computation, engineering, and biology, AbCellera is rebuilding the front-end process of how drugs are discovered with a discovery platform that integrates modern technologies from engineering, microfluidics, single-cell analysis, high-throughput genomics, machine learning, and hyper-scale data science.

With over 400 AbCellerites and growing, we're expanding our capabilities to include CMC development and GMP manufacturing of antibodies to bring therapies from idea to patients, faster.

We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join the Analytical Development team within Process Development at AbCellera.

In this capacity, the Scientist will be responsible for establishing laboratory workflows and best practices for biophysical characterization of monoclonal antibodies in the context of regulatory submissions.

We'd love to hear from you if:

  • You are an innovator and ready to help new approaches to the discovery and development of therapeutics
  • You have a strong desire to support early antibody discovery work by developing ways to improve and speed up the discovery to CMC development to GMP manufacturing paradigm
  • You are ready to revolutionize therapeutic development and move at lightning speed to create a legacy in our industry
  • You are an outstanding communicator and teammate
  • You are highly motivated and excited about the opportunity to work with an inspired team on challenging problems that matter

How you might spend your days:

  • Working across the Analytical Development group and cross-functionally to lead, plan, and execute complex characterization studies
  • Serving as the analytical lead in crossfunctional interactions
  • Developing and implementing methods intended for a variety of purposes, including product characterization, and high throughput analysis; on occasion, support the development of analytical methods for release and stability testing
  • Serving as analytical lead for CMC project teams including authoring and reviewing technical reports and regulatory sections
  • Overseeing troubleshooting, tech transfer, and phaseappropriate development and qualification of biophysical characterization methods at contract testing labs
  • Training and mentoring junior team members
  • Performing detailed biophysical characterization analyses in support of batch release, IND enabling studies, forced degradation and comparability studies
  • Collaborating with group members and crossfunctional teams to support structurefunction studies
  • Evaluating and developing new biophysical technologies to streamline and improve the efficiency of the characterization workflows and to solve problems encountered during drug development
  • Authoring technical reports, study protocols and manuscripts for publication; present at internal and external meetings and conferences
  • Sourcing, procuring, operating and maintaining instruments

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Ph.
D. and 0-2 years experience, M.Sc. and 4+ years of experience, or B.Sc. and 8+ years of experience

  • Experience working in areas of therapeutic biophysical and biochemical protein characterization and/or protein analytics in either academia or biotechnology
  • Proficiency in analytical technology including SEC-MALS/QELS, differential scanning calorimetry, circular dichroism, and other related characterization techniques
  • Strong data and time organization/management skills; proficiency in multitasking
  • Familiarity with electronic lab notebooks (Ex. Benchling), experimental data capture, and the associated 21 CFR part 11 compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to learn, understand and master new experimental techniques
  • Knowledge of regulatory filings such as INDs, BLAs, IMPDs, etc would be advantageous
  • Proven to be a problemsolver and team player with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements as it pertains to CMC activities for monoclonal antibodies (FDA, EMA, ICH, etc) would be advantageous
