    Job Summary:

The Hospice Residence Manager will support and work towards achieving the strategic directions set out by the Board of Directors of the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County Inc.

The Hospice Residence Manager will be assigned one primary base location, Windsor or Erie Shores (Leamington), and will also provide coverage to support the needs of either campus as necessary for after hours, back-up or urgent issues.

Performance is evaluated on an annual basis.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Communicate, implement and ensure that Hospice's responsive and holistic culture is maintained and evident within the residence.
  • Develop and nurture professional and therapeutic relationships with community partners.
  • Communicate and implement any of the Hospice's support services if appropriate for families and patients admitted to the residence.
  • Discuss with families the various opportunities for memorial donations in order to strengthen Hospice's financial position.
  • Daily management of the residence, including monitoring care and service to ensure the provision of safe services and quality patient care.
  • Oversee and ensure the completion of the staffing schedule, approving time off requests, and communicating changes to the Hospice Residence Administrative Assistant.
  • Ensure the staffing schedule is posted in MakeShift on a consistent basis.
  • Ensure delegation to appropriate personnel for consistent medical supply ordering, and managing new stock in order to minimize the amount of expired supply loss.
  • Provide leadership related to resolution of occurrences and conflict management for all team members contracted service providers, Hospice personnel, and Hospice volunteers, in promotion of ongoing highquality resident care.
  • Foster an interdisciplinary team environment in the promotion of best quality resident care.
  • Act as the Hospice liaison with contracted Service Providers, Erie St Clair Local Health Integration Network
  • Home and Community Care (LHIN), local hospitals, and other direct Service Providers and agencies as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Hospice Palliative Physician team in order to provide best quality palliative care to residents.
  • Support Medical Residents, Fellows, Nursing Students, and Interns, in the knowledge development and promotion of palliative care practice in the residence.
  • Collaborate with the Coordinator of Volunteers to ensure patient care needs are facilitated with trained volunteers in specified positions and address concerns of personnel, or expressed by volunteers, in a timely manner.
  • Complete annual performance evaluations for assigned personnel.
  • Provide crosscoverage and rotate between the two residences as needed. Provide training and opportunities for onsite Registered Nurses to learn specific day to day aspects of the Manager role for progressive backfill support.
  • The Hospice Residence Manager assigned to the Leamington (Erie Shores) location will provide backup coverage to support the Palliative Liaison Program as required at Erie Shores HealthCare.
  • The Hospice Residence Managers at both sites will work together to ensure that the residents of Windsor and Essex County are waitlisted and admitted to either campus in a timely fashion.
  • Oversee the Hospice Residence waitlist; provide monthly, quarterly and yearly statistical reports and ministry reports as required or requested.
  • Identify education needs of Hospice Residence personnel and ensure sessions are organized through collaboration with administrative support.
  • Ensure a safe environment for clients/family, staff and volunteers.

Accountabilities:


  • Accountable to the Director of Clinical Services and Informatics.
  • Performs in adherence to the Hospice Mission, Vision and Values.
  • Adheres to the Hospice Policies and expectations related to professional behavior.
  • Maintains clinical competence through continuing education and reflective practice protocols as established by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Submits confirmation of annual registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario to the Hospice Human Resources Department prior to December 31st of each calendar year.
  • Conducts practice in accordance with the professional standards outlined by the College of Nurses Ontario.

Requirements:


  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse.
  • Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Management or Leadership training and/or direct experience managing clinical personnel preferred.
  • At least five (5) yea
