Description
Tridon Communications is currently seeking a Drafting Technologist to join our Engineering Team in Edmonton or Calgary.The primary accountability will be to provide drafting support to the Radio and Telecommunications Engineering and Project Management Teams by preparing drawings from sketches, pictures and other information.
This role will also have responsibility for Document Control and will be responsible for the collection, classification, retrieval and retention of records, images, documents, and information for various project.
Prepare engineering designs and drawings using CAD, CAD LT, and MS Visio from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets, and other industry dataEnsure drawings conform to CAD standards, specifications and industry data
Complete documentation packages and construction drawing sets, within a timely manner
Document Control Responsibilities:
Ensure all technical documents, such as reports, drawings, and blueprints, are collected and registered in system
Use Document Management software for everyday operations, maintenance, and quality control
Manage and maintain all controlled company documents
Update and control procedure documents and forms
Train employees in the controlled document processes to ensure correct handling of documents from the ground up
Collaborate and communicate with managers and project leaders
2 year Diploma in Design and Drafting or a Bachelor's degree in a related field
~5 years of experience in using AutoCAD for Design and Drafting including standardized drafting practices
~ 2 years of experience with document control, records management or archive management
~1 – 2 years of experience or training in the communications field is preferred
~ Valid driver's license required with a clean drivers abstract for the past 5 years
~ Excellent computer drafting and drawing
~ Good computer skills, including Microsoft products: PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel and similar
~ Proven skill for creating and implementing controlled document processes
~ Proven ability to collaborate and work across multi functions / teams ensuring successful project deliveries
~ The incumbent will also be required to look at a computer screen for long periods of time. There is a possibility of eye and/or joint strain related to operating computer equipment
