Position Summary:


Reporting to the Associate Director, Research Financial Management Services (RFMS), the incumbent is responsible for the planning, development, coordination, and implementation of the training program, ensuring strategic alignment of research administration between central and faculty-based research administrators.

This position will liaise with the RFMS Management team as well as all Faculty Financial Officers to ensure new and existing employees are kept abreast of internal processes / procedures as well as external sponsor policies and requirements.

This position interacts with staff at all levels, including academic, administrative and support staff. Acts as a support to the RFMS Management Team and the Compliance Team.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice and guidance to unit members on problem resolution and resolve issues that require escalation
  • Develop and implement new initiatives that support the strategic direction of the unit by keeping abreast of new developments and trends in research administration
  • Prepare training courses and related material and provide training sessions in a handson environment. Draft and revise materials as required
  • Act as resource person by consulting with faculty/departments
  • Troubleshoot, assess, and resolve problems requiring specialized skills and technical knowledge
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new initiatives that support the strategic direction of the unit by keeping abreast of new developments and trends in the field of research administration, software, and information systems.

  • Clientfocused with a high level of tact, diplomacy, professionalism, and a demonstrated ability to build and maintain appropriate rapport and constructive and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Must have strong organizational, prioritysetting, and problemsolving skills
  • Must be able to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Ability to take initiative and work with mínimal supervision
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy is imperative
  • Excellent computer skills at the intermediate level or higher with office software packages including advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Crystal Reports
  • At ease with public speaking; experience with presentations
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to administer multiple activities and projects
  • Experience in training an asset
  • McGill University is an Englishlanguage university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.
  • Minimum Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree 3 Years Related Experience /

Annual Salary:
(MPEX Grade 04) $58, $73, $87,710.00
