R & D Shop Supervisor - Winnipeg, Canada - Buhler Industries Inc.

The R & D Supervisor is responsible for supervising, coordinating and scheduling all R&D shop employees. Responsible to build, rework and maintain prototype components/equipment within budget and timeline.Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Receive, assess and prepare work order based on requests from engineering, production, service and quality department
- Assist/manage tracking documentation, drawings on complete build
- Assist/direct R&D personnel to put components/assemblies on tractors
- Supervise, coordinate and schedule the activities of R&D employees workers based on project priorities
- Manage timesheets for employees
- Coordinate with other members from team to get the project done
- Coordinate service calls to farms or dealerships or test sites for component installation/removal and/or machine inspection and repair
- Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities with other departments
- Resolve work problems and recommend work measures to improve productivity
- Train or arrange of training of R&D Employees
- Recommend personnel actions such as hiring, firings, and promotions
- Provide performance evaluations of employees
- Ensure standards for safe working conditions are observed
- Perform interviews for potential R&D members
- May perform with the same duties as workers supervised
- Manage R&D fleet related activities (shipping, auditing, servicing, maintenance) etc.
- Perform preventative maintenance on R&D equipment
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in a related field is considered an asset
-
Five (5) to 10 years of experience in sheet metal processing, machining, and welding
- Some college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
Knowledge of safety rules and regulations concerning manufacturing shop processes such as sheet metal, machining and welding

Ability to read, write and understand instructions and interpret Engineering drawings, in English

Completion of Forklift and Overhead Crane operation courses

Mechanically inclined
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work under mínimal supervision
- Previous experience as a supervisor is an asset
Verbal and written communication skills

Strong ability to lead and motivate a team of workers

Capable of sustained physical effort while working with light to medium weight components
- May have occasional visits to tractor dealers/farmers for assessment
