Summary:


This role will require some flexibility of working rotations and working hours at customer sites to provide support throughout the lifecycle of our Measurement products and solutions.


Role and Responsibilities:


  • Work with customer process and electrical engineers to define functional requirements.
  • Work with our engineers at the Spartan solution center to design and implement analytical sample systems.
  • Performing factory acceptance testing on new solutions prior to field deployment.
  • Quick and reliable onsite demand field service support for our analytical instrumentation customers
  • Onsite evaluations and repair of device failures
  • Performance analysis
  • Application and process upset investigation
  • Startup and commissioning support for analytical instrumentation products as required by customers
  • Working with customers and internal Spartans on a startup execution plans
  • Overseeing and performing 3rd party interface checks
  • Integrating analyzers with customer plant and business systems
  • Troubleshooting issues
  • Documenting and calibrating
  • Planned preventative maintenance services
  • Review maintenance procedures and train customer operations and maintenance personnel on proper analyzer operation
  • Address any operational issues or concerns
  • Perform health checks and verify proper operation of system components
  • Calibration activities
  • Performance analysis
  • Perform inhouse evaluations, calibrations, and repairs on a variety of Measurement and Analytical products
  • Quality assurance on new equipment including testing new hardware and debugging new software
  • Presenting and instructing formal customer education courses on products withing Spartan's analytical portfolio
  • Supporting our sales teams with technical insights and opportunities to win new buisness
  • Provide technical remote telephone and digitally connected support services
  • Possible camp rotation work occasionally required
  • Participate in 7/24 on call rotation (approximately 34 x 1week rotations per year)

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Chemical, Electrical or Process Engineering degree is optimal but not required
  • Science focused degree/diploma with experience with lab instrumentation and analyzers/analytical chemistry are encouraged to apply
  • Diploma from a 2year technologist instrumentation course or Journeyman Instrument Certificate
  • Previous Instrumentation field service experience an asset
  • Strong trouble shooting skills
  • Comprehensive computer background and skills including networking
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Able to produce quality documentation in a timely and accurate manner
  • Entrepreneurial work ethic
  • Some lifting of instrumentation equipment (not heavy)
  • Must be able to distinguish colors
  • Valid Alberta driver's license, safe driving record and willing to travel extensively
  • Entrepreneurial work ethic


The training provided for this role will consist of formal factory training, mentoring, and partnering or shadowing with experienced Field Service Specialists.
