The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) is a non-profit organization created to focus national attention on mental health issues and to work to improve the health and social outcomes of people living with mental health problems and illnesses.

The Commission is a leader nationally and internationally in several areas.

Building upon the work done to date, the core mandate, and the unique position of the Commission, and guided by Changing Directions Changing Lives:

The Mental Health Strategy for Canada, the Commission will focus in the areas of, substance abuse/misuse, suicide prevention, population-based initiatives, and engagement.

This prioritization will enable the Commission to be successful in meeting its mandate, staying focused, and having a measurable impact for those living with mental illness and their families and caregivers.

The Mental Health Commission's head office is in Ottawa, Ontario.


POSITION OVERVIEW


We are recruiting for one Program Coordinator position that will report to a Manager, Access to Quality Mental Health Services.

The Program Coordinator will provide expertise and support to support a two-year demonstration project seeking to improve the quality of care for people living with schizophrenia.


The overall objective for the MHCC is to increase access to high quality and culturally appropriate mental health services and supports for Canadians no matter where, when or how they choose to access services.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate online and inperson meetings and events on various projects and initiatives, including communicating with external stakeholders, preparing meeting agendas, summaries and meeting notes;
  • Review and provide input on projects and initiatives when required;
  • Support marketing/communication activities for knowledge translation activities, such as drafting eblasts and website updates;
  • Assist with project administration of key departmental projects and initiatives, including processing invoices and expense claims;
  • Organize meeting material including binders, collateral, handouts and other education material for conferences, meetings and events;
  • Support stakeholder relationships including managing stakeholder contact information in client relationship database (Salesforce);
  • Conduct outreach and organize meetings;
  • Write and document discussions (minutes) during meetings, including action and followup items;
  • Manage project files, documents, and reports;
  • Provide regular status reports and updates to the manager; Help develop and maintain project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders;
  • Liaise with external and internal research/project team(s) and key project stakeholders, as identified by the manager;
  • Assist with tracking project expenses and working with department administrator where necessary;
  • Plan and execute the technical delivery of webinars for the department;
  • Assist with developing surveys and collating the data
  • Support the development and tracking of work plans;
  • Assist with creating power point presentations and/or other knowledge mobilization product, where necessary;
  • Help put together publications, reports, and/or proposals together as deemed necessary;
  • Coordinate and track translation, communications and other requests involving internal and external support;
  • Confirm conference attendance details including speaking engagements; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Familiarity with principles of recovery and the mental health system.
  • Strong project coordination skills, to support the development of projects from conception to launch and ongoing dissemination, and demonstrated experience meeting deadlines while working either independently, or with multiple internal or external stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, project coordination, (oral and written) communications skills, including writing reports and briefing note
