Global Wealth & Asset Management (GWAM) is a key growth segment for Manulife.

We operate three different channels (Retail, Retirement and Institutional) and are a major player in North America, Asia and Europe.


Our global Retail business distributes investment funds to clients through proprietary advice channels in Canada and Asia as well as through intermediaries and banks in North America, Europe, and Asia, and offer investment strategies across the world, through affiliated and select unaffiliated asset managers.

In Canada, we also provide holistic personal advice to individual clients and investment management, private banking and wealth and estate solutions to high-net-worth clients.


Reporting jointly to the GWAM Head of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and the Global Head of Retail, the Global Retail Head of FP&A is responsible for communicating the financial story for the Retail channel, both globally and at the regional business unit level.

This includes leading the development of financial and management reporting, financial plans and forecasts, as well as ad hoc modeling and analysis.


Responsibilities:


  • As the key finance partner for the Head of Global Retail, you will be responsible for providing the story (insights and narrative) for the Global Retail business.
  • In collaboration with the regional Retail FP&A and CF0 teams, you will be responsible for reporting, planning and analysis for Global Retail and accountable for providing high quality financial information and analysis to tell the consolidated Global Retail story
  • Oversee the development and operationalization of bestinclass reporting framework and analytics for Global Retail, including financial and nonfinancial metrics and KPIs to illustrate key levers for differentiation and growth and enable forwardlooking decisions.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Global Retail, in support of various crosscompany strategic initiatives and projects, offering the Global Retail specific lenses to issue considerations and resolution.
  • Establish messaging and narrative of financial results and business performance, crafting commentary for quarterly external disclosers (Report to Shareholders, News Releases, Financial & Operating Results slides).
  • Support the development of Global Retail related content for analyst presentations, Q&A's and executive speaking notes.
  • Lead and coordinate monthly management reporting for Global Retail, developing timelines and guidance, and preparation of financial review packages
  • Support Global WAM Strategy and Corporate Strategy to research, analyze, reconcile, and validate a variety of data sets and information to inform business decisions
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge regarding technical aspects of work. Review data for reasonability and identify root causes and drivers of the results
  • Play a leading role in driving automated solutions to streamline all financial reporting processes.
  • Establish effective relationships by building trust and credibility across the Finance organization, particularly the Global WAM leadership team and the WAM Business Unit Heads of Finance and their teams.
  • Develop best practices in policies, processes, and controls. Demonstrate commitment towards continuously updating knowledge and skills.

What we are looking for

  • University Qualified with recognized professional designation (MBA, CPA, CFA)
  • 10+ years progressive financial management, business partnering and advisory experience, with extensive experience from within a financial services organization, asset management / investment industry experience preferred.
  • Strong business acumen, with demonstrable capability to understand and analyze complex concepts and articulate big picture perspective.
  • Superior written and verbal
