The Library and Academic sales group is looking for an energetic and motivated Library Sales Manager to join our team.

Your contribution to the story:


At Penguin Random House Canada, we strive to deliver best-in-class service to our library wholesale accounts and, in turn, Canadian librarians by providing curated title assortments, inventory replenishment support, and robust account management that helps position our books for readers in the wider Canadian marketplace.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Independent, Library and Academic Sales, you will play an important role in delivering this experience by working closely with key stakeholders to understand, anticipate, and respond to the unique needs of our library wholesale accounts and the overall Canadian library market.


What you'll do:

  • Sell and promote Penguin Random House titles to library wholesale accounts.
  • Identify communitylevel opportunities and plan corresponding activities with an eye towards growing sales of Penguin Random House titles.
  • Work closely with the editorial, marketing, and publicity teams to coordinate library promotions, author and community events, and other opportunities to position Penguin Random House titles.
  • Deliver sales presentations to small and large groups including library teams either in person or virtually.
  • Keep abreast of trends and factors impacting the library market and proactively contribute insights that keep key stakeholders informed and help shape the wider sales strategy for our titles.
  • Inform accounts of supply and price trends and assist with inventory management.
  • Advocate for the interests of libraries on the basis of competitor offerings, titlespecific opportunities, and the need for bestinclass tools and processes.
  • Work actively and flexibly with key accounts to surface innovative ideas and identify new ways to support our library wholesalers.

Experience and knowledge you'll bring (qualifications):

  • Strong familiarity with the Canadian publishing and book retail marketplace. Specific familiarity with the Canadian library market is considered a plus.
  • Excellent relationship management and change management skills supported by strong communication and presentation skills.
  • An inclusive approach to your work, coupled with a high level of cultural competency and a proven ability to collaborate with people from across a wide range of diverse backgrounds.
  • Enhanced knowledge, awareness, and experience with the culture and history of any community that has faced marginalization is considered a strong plus
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • A proactive, analytical, and collaborative approach to problem solving focused on continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, effectively manage multiple projects with competing deadlines, and thrive in a complex and everevolving environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and collaborative digital tools including MS Teams, Asana, and Google Docs.
  • Ability to travel and transport materials to all accounts is required.
  • A diligent, avid, and passionate reader with a love of books
