Position Overview:
The General Counsel is a key leadership role responsible for providing legal guidance and oversight within our sports business organization.
This position reports directly to the executive team and plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with legal requirements and managing legal matters.
Responsibilities:

Legal Advisory:
- Advise on a wide range of legal matters related to the business, including contracts, policies, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with other departments (finance, marketing, etc.) to ensure legal alignment with organizational goals.
Contract Negotiation:
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and sponsorships.
- Ensure favorable terms for the organization while minimizing legal risks.
Compliance:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Stay informed about changes in sports law and adapt organizational practices accordingly.
Dispute Resolution:
- Handle legal disputes, including negotiations, settlements, and litigation if necessary.
- Work closely with external legal counsel when required.
Risk Management:
- Identify legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Provide proactive advice to prevent legal issues.
Policy Development:
- Develop and update organizational policies related to legal matters.
- Ensure consistent implementation across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Law degree (LL.B/J.D.) from a recognized institution.
- Member in good standing with the Canadian Bar Association.
Skills and Attributes:
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to provide practical solutions.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and negotiation skills.
- Detailoriented with a high degree of professional ethics.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Pay:
$100.00-$130.00 per hour
