Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our
Yurek Pharmacy team in St.

Thomas.


‎Job Summary


The Registered Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the Pharmacists in properly dispensing and checking medications to patients and performs technical duties as set forth by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.


They must be able to effectively prioritize and multi-task to assure continuity of flow of prescriptions through the dispensary including waiting prescriptions, pickups, deliveries, and compounds.


They must be able to accurately complete the tasks at hand while minimizing errors working effectively without follow-up or supervision.

They are responsible for building long-term client relationships through both personal and telephone interactions.

They must be able to work as a team member and be able to efficiently manage time and tasks in an often-busy environment.


‎Duties and Responsibilities include:


  • As a member of the Dispensary team, they are required to do their share of all tasks in the Dispensary to ensure they provide exemplary customer service that meets Yurek standards.
  • Sign technical aspects of prescriptions as per the approved guidelines set forth by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Receive verbal prescriptions as per the approved guidelines set forth by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Authorize Prescription transfers as per the approved guidelines set forth by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • If required, operate a remote dispensary location (remote pharmacy) and follow all policies and procedures
  • Administer vaccines as set out by the Ontario College of Pharmacists and the Ministry of Health
  • Point of care testing where appropriate while leaving the clinical interpretation of results to a Registered Pharmacist, Intern or Student.
  • Demonstrate point of care testing, as appropriate.
  • Take on additional duties and responsibilities as per the approved guidelines set by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Billing prescriptions through pharmacy software (Kroll) ensuring all required documentation is adequate and appropriate including (but not limited to) accounts receivables, dosage and dosing intervals, third party billing restrictions, scheduled appointment dates, clinic locations, copayment management, coordination of benefits, assignment of benefits.
  • Understanding, recognizing, resolving third party billing issues
  • Champion building longterm client relationships through both personal and telephone interactions.
  • Adherence to all relevant guidelines including the established processes and procedures and all applicable regulatory requirements
  • Provide guidance, oversight, and assist in the training of new employees and students when delegated
  • Inventory management and reconciliation
  • Participate in (and lead as required) continuous improvement and corrective action activities and assist in amending, writing, revising and reviewing all policies and procedures within the department as required.
  • Take the necessary courses to upgrade their own skills as mutually agreed upon with the Dispensary Manager.
  • Represent Yurek at promotional activities including but limited to attending/presenting at events and writing content for marketing materials, publications, and social media
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervising Pharmacist
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all records as laid out in store operating policies and procedures particularly as they pertain to access, security, and retention. Also participates in the destruction of confidential and hazardous waste products.

Education, Skills and Job Requirements:


  • OCP licensure as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPh.
T.)

  • Specialized PCCA and/or Aseptic Technique training either on or offsite where required, is considered an asset
  • Maintain Error and Omissions insurance as per College guidelines
  • Experience with Kroll Dispensing software would be preferred
  • Familiarity with SCRIPTPRO, SynMed, and/or compliance packaging would be an asset
  • Familiarity with methadone/suboxone dispensing is an asset
  • Flexibility to work all shifts is mandatory‎
