Training Technician
  • Mechanical.
  • Reporting to the FLM, the Training Technician
  • Mechanical position is responsible for performing training duties within the Mechanical Maintenance trade/technical work function and perform all or part of the technical/trade duties to maintain skills and competencies for training purposes.
    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Responsibilities are consistent with training and experience in industrial structures, equipment, systems and facilities.
  • In accordance with prescribed safety procedures and regulations, perform training duties including:
  • Assign and oversee tasks performed by trainees in a variety of settings including classroom, shop and on-the-job. Demonstrate leadership by providing direction, monitoring, and coaching. Carry out Job, Task, needs and/or cost analysis to justify courses within assigned areas, as directed by Manager. Prepare curriculum, establish learning objectives, methods and the like. Conduct pilot sessions, peer evaluations, and post-training evaluations to improve upon the viability of the function. Deliver approved training to trainees within assigned area of expertise. Ensure safety and order of training setting in accordance with the Conduct of Training and associated procedures and standards. Modify aspects of training, tools and lesson material to ensure effectiveness. Prepare training settings, making changes, as necessary. Evaluate trainee progress and mark approved tests in accordance with standards. Report on trainee progress and issues to Manager. Carry out other administrative and instructional tasks associated with the function of the role. Perform all or part of the duties to maintain skills and competencies for training purposes.
  • Develop curriculum outline that defines structure of training, and based upon previous analysis with respect to tasks and job performance requirements, establish learning objectives, activities and methods. Update/revise existing tools as necessary. As assigned, obtain and analyze vendordeveloped materials to determine potential applicability. Develop lesson plans, evaluation, instruments and other course materials within assigned areas. Develop job performance measures for same. Submit for review and approval to Manager.
  • Construct test and test banks within area of expertise. Prepare pretesting methods for new hires or employees as required. Submit to Manager for review and approval.
  • Conduct new course pilot sessions within area of assigned expertise. As directed, observe training delivery within assigned scope. Provide onthejob training to instructors in identified areas requiring improvements.
  • As assigned, provide stewardship over content and quality of materials for specified courses.
  • Carry out posttraining evaluations in assigned area in a variety of settings including classroom, shop and onthejob. Utilize posttraining feedback to identify gaps and areas of improvement required in training courses.
  • Deliver training to personnel in assigned area of expertise, using approved training materials in classroom, shop, onthejob or other work environment. Uphold all safety and Business Code of Conduct rules, standards, and practices in the Training environment. Practice all Conduct of Training accountabilities and ensure same are understood and adopted by trainer. May include using and/or delivering vendordeveloped materials.
  • Prepare the training setting, ensuring all required configuration changes to classroom or shop/laboratory equipment are undertaken. Maintain equipment in a state of readiness to support quality training.
  • Make changes to training materials and evaluation instruments to ensure current status. Sequence learning objectives and evaluate and modify test questions as per results of Job and Task analysis.
