How You Will Contribute:


Reporting to Senior Director, People & Culture, as a Data Scientist, you will play an important role in Ciena's transformational journey from operational reporting to advanced analytics.


  • You will perform exploratory data analysis for data modeling and data preprocessing to determine patterns and trends.
  • Partner with key customers to understand business requirements and translate requirements for the purpose of building data models and visualization.
  • You will own the design, development, and support to data models and visualization dashboard, pulling data from the data warehouse (Snowflake / Oracle data warehouse) or other sources.
  • You will share options for high quality visuals for the requirements of new / enhancement of operational reports / dashboard, produce monthly & quarterly metrics reports and curate meaningful business insights from that data for the Executive Leadership Team.
  • You will monitor data and complete data analysis with the goal of early detection of new trends and developing new insights and build models for predictive analytics.
  • You will provide support to existing team members, conducting analysis, and build PowerBI dashboards to address ad hoc requests from all functions within the P&C team.

The Must Haves:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or other related field of study coupled with proven experience in data modelling, implementing PBI for visualization and reporting.
  • Experience in analyzing data from a variety of sources in a large, multinational organization, identifying linkages, highlighting insights and proposing conclusions.
