Health Information Management Professional to work in our

Release of Information Department.

$30.778-$31.802


Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

Position Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for releasing patient information to authorized recipients while ensuring security of patient information from unauthorized requestors.
  • Ensures accurate release of Personal Health Information request are processed within established timelines.
  • Review all requests and consent for right of access to Personal Health Information to ensure that all criteria are met.
  • Extensive interaction with external agencies, law offices, other hospitals, health care agencies, patients and their families
  • Accountable for productivity and accuracy of all ROI requests completed
  • Responsible for promoting confidentiality & privacy awareness
  • Collection of payment for release of information as per ROI fee schedule
  • Exercises judgment and resolves issues related to ROI
  • Builds relationships with our internal and external customers
  • Looks for opportunities to improve levels of service, recognizing the needs and expectations of patients.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:


  • Graduate from approved Health Information Management Program
  • Certification with the Canadian College of Health Information Management (CCHIM formally known as CCHRA) and active membership maintained with CHIMA.
  • 13 years of Release of Information work experience or related experience in Health Administration, Health Services Management or Health Information Management
  • Knowledge of various legislation pertaining to release of personal health information (Personal Health Information Protection Act, Public Hospitals Act, Mental Health Act, Coroner's Act, Vital Statistics Act, Consent to Treatment Act)
  • Ability to problemsolve in order to incorporate the organization's systems and strategies when developing viable solutions to problems
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders while exercising maturity, tact, confidentiality and discretion
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the capability of providing leadership to a diverse team and interacting comfortably with a variety of disciplines at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, decision making, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in the area of information privacy.
  • Ability to function effectively in a highly dynamic environment, including working under pressure, adapting and responding to changing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated superior organizational, time management, listening and recording skills.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
