YOUR ROLE


The Manager, Benefits Analysts is responsible for supporting the Sales teams by providing new business pricing, as well as supporting the service team and existing client underwriting requests.

You are ideally someone with a background in benefits, underwriting and risk assessment that can solve problems and answer questions regarding complex cases.

You will provide leadership to the Analyst team, as well as evaluate and improve processes that are currently in place.

YOUR IMPACT

  • You will achieve SLA's regarding Analyst workflow, account reviews, interactions with other departments and reporting.
  • You will assess Analyst metrics and ensure performance targets are achieved.
  • You will build relationships with the departments within GSBD and at GH.
  • You will understand processes for both new business and renewal support.
  • You will understand the GSBD pricing and renewal model.
  • You will understand the GroupStrength and GroupHealth products.
  • You will become the person who can deal with all issues related to pricing or renewal or alternates of individual cases.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Leadership:_
  • You will build a culture of continual process improvement both to improve quality of outcomes and speed of service.
  • You will support other departments in the improvement of processes and interactions
  • You will develop your staff by performance management and coaching to ensure strong performance.
  • You will manage all resources to measure and achieve departmental targets, in particular, quote turnaround time, accuracy and risk management.
  • Underwriting:_
  • You will support Analyst team with underwriting cases bringing expertise and appropriate creativity to achieve high closing ratios yet appropriate financial results.
  • To best support your team, you will act as point of escalation for Analysts and other GSBD staff and the person to elevate things with GroupHEALTH underwriting team to achieve results.
  • You will build & develop relationships between GroupHEALTH underwriters and Service departments.
  • You will ensure accuracy of quotes issued and structure of cases sold.
  • Develop and improve underwriting guidelines and process best practices (including new business)
  • Support Client Retention team by providing pricing, alternates and recommendations.
  • Renewals:_
  • To best support your team you will be the expertise for renewing unusual or difficult cases by analyzing experience and unusual plan designs to achieve high retention rates yet appropriate financial results.

THIS IS YOU

  • You have postsecondary education in a related field.
  • You have 5+ years' experience in Group Benefits as an Analyst or Underwriter.
  • You have hands on experience in underwriting including pricing new and existing cases and assessing risk.

THIS IS NICE

  • You have your GBA or CEBS Designation.
  • You have 2+ years' experience managing a team.
  • You have previous leadership training and come with a good understanding of performance management.
