Position Summary


Working with the Legal Talent Department and Professional Development Committee, the Legal Talent Coordinator (Associate Programs) will support the operational objectives of the associate programs in all of Lawson Lundell's offices.


Responsibilities
General responsibilities include coordinating the recruitment and hiring, onboarding and orientation, professional development and performance management of associates.


Recruitment and Hiring

  • Provide support for lateral associate recruitment including:
  • Preparing job descriptions and posting positions
  • Maintaining recruitment records
  • Assisting with preparation of employment letters and offer packages
  • Completing transferring lawyers checks
  • Coordinate Law Society membership requirements, registrations and filings

Onboarding, Orientation and Programming

  • Assist Legal Talent Department with the development, coordination and facilitation of associate onboarding
  • Coordinate administrative requirements of onboarding including preparation of orientation agenda, office tour, guest speakers, and systems training
  • Liaise with incoming associates for payroll forms and necessary documents
  • Provide guidance to associates regarding firm protocol, practices and procedures
  • Assist Legal Talent Department with planning and coordination of social programs and events for associates
  • Maintaining associate manual
  • Maintaining Law Society memberships of the associates and partners by coordinating payment and submitting necessary documents by appropriate deadlines

Professional Development and Performance Management

  • Assist Legal Talent Department with professional development programming for associates
  • Assist Legal Talent Department with planning and coordination of social programs and associate events
  • Coordinate administrative requirements of associate mentorship program, including organizing of annual mentorship achievement awards and celebration
  • Attend Professional Development Committee meetings and prepare agenda and meeting minutes
  • Maintain professional development programming records
  • Support the performance management of associates using viDeskop to track reviews, summarize and follow up on outstanding feedback
  • Coordinate the associate review schedule for all practice groups
  • Assist Legal Talent Department with associate offboarding processes

Qualifications and Skills

  • Postsecondary education in administration, or related field
  • Relevant administrative experience in a professional services environment (law firm experience is preferred but an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable)
  • Human resources or recruiting experience an asset
  • Impeccable organizational and time management skills, with the ability to keep on top of multiple deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and customerservice attitude
  • The ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Professional disposition with sense of humour
  • Demonstrates discretion and respect for confidential material
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

This is a full time position.

Generally, the hours will be Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm; due to the nature of the role, some flexibility and overtime hours will be required for events and during recruitment periods.
