Position Description


We are currently seeking a Scale House Operator for our Kingston Division who will serve as the first point of contact for customers, visitors, and haulers delivering waste to the facility.

A blend of scale operation and ensuring the safety of the haulers, visitors, and other employees through observation of safety rules and regulations.


Position Responsibilities

  • Greets customers, directs haulers and other traffic, and answers questions accordingly
  • Ensures incoming material does not contain prohibited material
  • Obtains information regarding material entering the facility to properly bill the customer and track the total amount and type of waste entering the facility
  • Provides a scale ticket to the customer and documents the waste entering and leaving the facility with attention to detail,
  • Completes all administrative tasks including data entry, regular filing, and required reports
  • Identifies and reports problems; gathers needed information to develop solutions,
  • Documents customer and/or supplier problems to management and responds promptly to customer needs
  • Ensures that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Communicates with staff via 2way radio for proper dispatch
  • Keeps immediate supervisor and Operations Manager fully informed of all problems or matters requiring his/her attention
  • Attends all training and meetings as directed

Qualifications

  • Proficient general computer skills
  • Recycling/waste industry experience is an asset
  • Must be selfdisciplined and able to work in a team environment with mínimal supervision
  • Must consider safety a priority and work well under pressure
  • Great communication skills and ability to interface well with personnel at all levels
